Kevin Ogletree doesn't play anywhere close to 4.3, he's listed as 6 feet tall and I haven't read about him practicing special teams.

I don't really care about forty times or height, if a receiver can play, he can play.

But not having a special teams role would seem to hurt Ogletree's chances to make the roster.

but he can play special teams he was a punt returner back in college. I dont know why they havent been practicing him back there but he can play special teams.

So what's the deal? Someone please explain to me the groupie love for Kevin Ogletree? I just see this being just like the Danny Amendola nonsense of last year.

Anyway, I'm not from Missouri, but SHOW ME! What's everyone getting their Dallas Cowboys briefs all in a bunch about over this guy

I went to 3 days of camp, i didnt know anything about the guy, im not a fan of him, i knew he was on the team, but he caught my attention. i didnt know his number, i kept asking my buddy, who is 85. He ran good routes, i dont know much about route running but seeing him do reps with the top 4 guys, he looked polished. he has good speed and he had good quickness after the catch, besides Hurd, Ogletree stood out the most to me of the WR's. i dont know if he makes the team but if stanback cant show anything, i believe this guy can take his spot.

M. Johnson will go to the practice squad, unless he is total garbage in preseason.

Anyone think we keep 6 receivers given injury concerns?

Doubt it since we're gonna be carrying a 3rd QB on the roster and an extra kicker so roster spots are going to be scarce in that regard

I've yet to see the guy play and I doubt many of you have either and I think its hilarious so many of you already have what he is pegged.

Olgetree has been killing training camp so far... I think Ray Sherman could work with this guy over the next couple of years.

there's nothing wrong with having high hopes for a rookie. The guys been tearing it up in camp so everyones just excited about his potential and he's not some project that we have to wait to groom he's pretty polished right now. The enthusiasm is even heightened when we get reports that the coaches (the ones who watch the players a lot closer than us fans) think that the guy is special.

So I'm reading a lot of stuff that's basically fan opinion...one guy says he's got 4.3 speed, one guy says 4.48 combine time, etc...

So Ogletree makes it obvious that Stanback won't make the team? Everyone is just writing off Manuel Johnson?

It's not just fans.

Try making it off of a message board where you get fans opinions and doing some research and you might learn something.

Scandrick, Jenkins and MacMahon say he's doing well in camp --

And Romo says so too...

Romo Applauds Young Wide Receivers

The recent hamstring injury that has kept Isaiah Stanback out of action the last three practices might have opened up the fifth spot once again. That’s assuming the Cowboys even keep five receivers, but they probably will.

When asked about the younger batch of receivers, quarterback Tony Romo gave a few names that have piqued his interest.

“I thought Isaiah Stanback had a pretty good first few days there, now he’s got a little hamstring injury. I know that Kevin Ogletree has done a good job.

He’s got to keep pushing, but he’s showing some flashes of good things. Willie Reid did a good job here (Saturday). “

Reid was actually signed late this summer after the Cowboys lost Stanback (knee surgery), Austin and Hurd for a few weeks during the OTA and mini-camp practices.

Olgetree is a rookie free agent who has impressed the team with his quickness and could help his own cause even more when the Cowboys do more with the return game. Ogletree has returned both kickoffs and punts in college at Virginia.

Then why do the CB's who see him in camp everyday say he's a speed guy?

Because they don't know that Bluefin stated Ogletree is not fast.

Forget the QB, click the link. (fixed that to make it clear by the way, lol.)

It's audio from the two CB's who cover him and a reporter who has seen him play for the last 13 practices.

He's not Jerry Rice, but he's the #5 WR right now.

LOVE THIS ONE!!

Seriously tho, He was a quality WR at UVA, and was probably headed for an All ACC bid before tearing his knee up in 07. And he did run back kicks and punts, so I don't know why he's not in the mix back there. I stay in the DC area so we get a lot of UVA and ACC coverage, he was always showing up in highlights and in the papers. And they say a person isn't 100% back from knee issues until a year and a half, so maybe we are getting a steal.

This is what I hope the case is.

I guess we'll see in 6 days. I look forward to hopefully being proven wrong.

4.3 speed, tall, flashed potential at an ACC school with a horrible QB situation. Showed the most quickness of any WR at the combine.

This is not Danny Amendola.

with the top 4 spots set, the battle is for the 5th spot and then PS. these are developmental players who probably will never see game day unless some on gets injured. so who will you choose between Stanbach, Ogltree, Manny Johnson, Jefferson, Holley and Hawkins?

stanbach has the most potential but he is also always injured and unless he comes back and tears it up he maybe on the outside looking in. ogltree has the potential with the measurables and if he shows flashes, then he becomes a developmental player for that 5th spot or PS.

And you deduce this from...?

I'm a huge Virginia homer. I went to school there. I live an hour away from C'ville. I have season tickets and catch all the away games on the tube. And I'll be the first to say that I'll wait and see before I start putting Ogletree in Canton. But the way some of you spit out misinformation kills me.

I expect this comes from the absence of gaudy stats in his resume, but no one seems to consider that there were factors beyond Ogletree's ability that affected his measureables. The fact is, he played in a dink and dunk West Coast offense where running the ball to control the clock was the emphasis. He was pretty much the only deep threat on the team, and the guys throwing to him were neither very accurate nor great at throwing the ball down the field. There's a reason Al Groh fired his offensive coordinator (his son).

Ogletree has good speed. He's quick, too, and extremely athletic. He runs like a RB when he has the ball in his hands, and he's smart. Ironically, he wasn't known to have superb hands or run great routes in college, two elements of his game for which he's receiving rave reviews in San Antone.

I'm not saying Ogletree will be Wes Welker or anything, but I wish people would stop repeating the stuff they hear from pundits who never saw the guy play (meaning no one in particular).

Heya, Vinnie.

Hoos and Hokies have their differences, but we're all Cowboys here. :)
