Why Livings over Holland

Right. Because he didn't and now you have nothing.

Okay, I'll play along with the nonsense.

Hey, our OL coach likes this guy so it's all good. We finally have a quality OL coach so this can't possibly end badly. It's not like we had an all timer OL coach before Callahan and added failure after failure at the position under his tutelage.

Houch was a long time good coach he also has his own views like and dislikes just as any person or coach or scout will have. Callahan is just a different coach with his own views his own way of doing things. Does not mean he will always be right does not mean his views will be wrong. I don't think anyone thinks callahan himself was out scouting players that is why we do have scouts but there is still a point when both scouts and coaches sit down look over a player and come to a conclusion and I can promise you that coaches input means a lot to the scout after all the scout is not putting a system in place he is looking over a lot of different talent

Wow are you out in left field.

So you actually think the scouts report to the coaches and the coaches select the players?

I guess I can't blame you. Our team has been run so back-bleep-wards over the years that fans lose touch with how a proper franchise is run.

That's not how I took his post at all. Don't look now but your agenda is showing.

You aren't paying attention. No one is saying any coach or any one person makes all the decisions. Of course I'm not certain you really care what anyone else is discussing.

You're the one not paying attention. Not a single one of you is addressing what was originally said. That Livings is here because Callahan liked what he saw on film.

That was the statement I responded to. And I submit that if that's true, our franchise is fatally flawed. Because an OL coach shouldn't have that kind of stroke. The scouting department better have liked what they saw too. I'd say the GM and Director of Personnel, but that doesn't apply in Dallas.

How this became some ridiculous duh debate on how teams work in unison is beyond me. It has absolutely nothing to do with the original comment.

They work together they are not reporting and scouts are not running around saying this is the guy I picked now you go coach him. Coaches have input on every team you think Blicheck has no say that he is not in constant communication when it comes to players and what they want to do.

You don't have a fricken clue as to what your talking about.

He is here because the scouts and Callahan liked what they saw and how that player fit into what Callahan has in mind for the OL he is putting in place. You seem intent on thinking that 1 person is just making these calls just own their own no input no conversations with those who are actually putting a system offensively and defensively in place.

Only one lost around here is you

It's definitely ridiculous. Does it not concern you that you're the one being picked on and better why?

It doesn't concern me at all. I'm used to being right.

Even when your not right. So in you world the coach has no say what so ever. Belicheck just sits there with his mouth closed and the GM says here is the player you go coach him is that how it works? So why even have the coaches make the trip to the SR. bowl/ East/West game, why send them up to Indy and have them sit down and interview players?

Yes, it should be every NFL teams goal to acquire offensive linemen that the offensive line coach doesn't like. That is the ticket to success right there.

So are you saying Callahan should have no input.

Because nobody ever said scouts were not a part of this decision, you just seemed to have a problem with Callahan having input.

So you think that if Callahan had looked at Livings after the Pro Scouts brought him the info and said 'No. I don't like him. Don't think he can do the job.', that the Cowboys would have signed Livings anyway?
