Why no more signings. Don't we have 40 million in space?

Are they out on spring break???? Why no more signings - get another cb and wr signed. Best dl/de available would be good too.
we signed a bunch of JAGs...one year deals...this 40M is partly for Micah and then the rest to be rolled over to next year as cowboys always do. we are always closer to the cap floor than cap ceiling

We'll be doing the same thing next year
Yeah, it is status quo here and has been for about 13 years. The front office may tweak it a little like they did this year where they did their shopping early, but the strategy hasn't changed.

No more signings until after the draft because of the comp pick formula. Anybody the Cowboys sign now cancels out the losses of Jourdan Lewis and Chauncey Golston.

They already gave up a comp pick for D-Law by signing Dante Fowler and the signing of Rob Jones cancels out a comp pick for Chuma Edoga.

The Micah deal will give them 10 million more in cap space.

If the Cowboys do in fact have 40 million in cap space, I say sit tight, hope for a WORSE season than we had in 2024. All of the Cowboy's energy has to be directed in getting to the No.1 pick in the 2026 draft. If the Boys can't tank it, then they'll have to revert to Mike Dikta's strategy and offer up every pick they have in 2026 for the top pick next year. Arch Manning could possibly be a Cowboy after the 2026................. Winning less this year is a must if we want to get back to the early '90' years. Prescott is not the answer to any of our happy dreams.................

The Cowboys will have 50 million in cap space when they get the Parsons deal done.

Big deal, they still need a reliable QB to steer the ship, and Prescott is not flat out not the guy! So, toe the line and TANK next season for a shot at Arch Manning! This organization has been rubber less for more than 3 decades and was the top vote getter to determine who employees worse GM in the league, so what is one more year of crappy football going to hurt if they can tank next season and get the kid who will bring joy to Cowboy Fan's heart for years to come. Hell, no one would suspect and accuse the Cowboys of tanking since we're already a lousy football team with the worse GM......LOL!!!!

Why don't you take your Dak hate to dak threads? Seriously

The Eagles went from a total implosion to winning the SB in one offseason. They did it rather easily too. The Cowboys were just as good or better than the Eagles in 2023. How did the two teams sprint in opposite directions? IMO it's their team building philosophy.
Winning eleven games and making the playoffs is an “implosion”? What is seven wins and not qualifying for the playoffs?

Starting out 10-1 and folding up like a cheap paper back has only happened once before. So yes, an implosion. Context matters.

They use void contracts.

Most of their players are making league min base salary.

But all that money is due at the end.

Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Barkley, DeVonta Smith, all had a combined lower cap hit than Dak in 2024. This year Dak has roughly the same cap hit of all 4 of them combined. Who do you think is getting more for their money?

The Cowboys use void years for their top players as well. That's not what makes the difference.

Jerry will buy one car for 50k. Howie will buy 5 cars putting 10k down on each. Both spent 50k, but Howie gets 5 times more.

so do agents tell the players and the players wait out instead of possibly signing with another team who isn't worried about comp picks??

Yup.

We did that with Martin.

Dead $$$ at the end of his contract. Void years. They might be able to post June the $$$ and split it over two seasons.

Eagles do it with almost all of there contracts.

Remember, you only get two June 1st cuts per season.
