Why would Ben come here?

Jerry pays the least
Not much talent on offense and that is if Dak can stay healthy.
Very little player accountability
A front office that doesn't know much about football

Ben has publicly stated all the things he is looking for from an organization and Dallas offers almost none of them.

I really want a head coach this this time from the defensive side. We just went 15 years or whatever with an offensive guy. Clearly, it hasnt worked for this team.
Too me that’s not an issue. The issue is if you go defensive you need to find an elite OC. If you go offensive you need to find an elite DC. In todays NFL it’s easier to hire a good DC than OC because the goid OC’s are getting the HC offers

yes, I don't remember the specifics, but I do recall a list of things he would require- he just wasn't taking a head coaching job at all costs. He has some requirements,

is he going to accept an offer that is going to rank him near the bottom of what some active HC's are earning today? Highly doubt it.
Of course not ......but that doesn't mean he's demanding a top 3-5 salary either. Look, it's no secret Jerry isn't known for paying his coaches top salaries but over the last 15-18 years there have only been 3 ( Wade, Garrett and McCarthy ). It's a long shot, I get that but if you are Ben Johnson with a choice of all the vacancies Dallas is top 2 IMO.

Commanders were going to bring in Johnson to talk about their head coaching opening, but he didn't want to draft Jayden Daniels and wanted to stick with Sam Howell at QB, which led to Peters and company canceling the interview.

Would he get free reign here? He is allowed to call the exact offense he wants in Detroit. I have a feeling he would be calling plays from our outdated model that has been here since Garrett became OC in 2007. We have been running the same offense since, just with different personnel and staff. Garrett handed it Kellen Moore a few years ago and Mike McCarthy took it over.

You need an offensive coach who can actually scheme, gameplan to our strengths. And not just one generic, size fits all gameplan.

Because Ben Johnson is the hottest candidate out there, and he doesn't need to make a desperate move to come coach for a clown show organization.

Doesn't seem like a fit due to Johnson's desire for a solid GM he can vibe with, and his reported $10M price tag.

Sidenote: Is everyone overrating Ben Johnson? Dude has a lot of weapons and a good OL, then how would he be leading his on team.

First off, I doubt he isn't going to want to be closer to the McVeigh region or slightly under. Certainly not be at the bottom of the pay scale and the headache of dealing with a meddling owner and his family.

It's sad, I was looking on a popular Trade Rumors website that listed each HC vacancy and who had interviewed, was scheduled to interview, or if there was even reported interest between the two sides ( Yeah I know that's more rumor mill than anything). Either Ben Johnson, Aaron Glen or most of the time both were listed for every single team except Dallas. Dumb and Dumber are too busy looking at people they can control and honestly just plain crazy options for a HC.

I read a nugget ( can't remember who) that suggested a lot was going on behind the scenes with Jerry and the coaching search than people realize. Jerry is only leaking what he wants us to know........
