Jerry doesn't do unknown quantities. Ben Johnson is a hot name because of his offensive coordinator prowess. There is no proof he is going to be any good as a HC or maybe he will surprise everyone. Jerry however will always go with the safe bet, someone who has been HC.It sounds good because he's a hot hot hot name, knowing Jerry he doesn't always go for the hot name, he'd rather go for a retread or someone that we may have never heard of. Does Jerry know something about Ben that we don't, not sure they're able to talk to them yet for them to get a better feel for him. In time, when that window opens, we'd be doing ourselves a disservice if we didn't at least give him a call.
Could detroit block us from talking to him?

The thing that is going to disqualify Ben Johnson is the salary requirement and I highly doubt if Jerry is going to shell out 15 Million a year for a coach when he is out there peddling "performance based contracts"
he's not willing to give up that much control, BJ is not coming. Crazy how we say that, but we're "talking" to DeionI don't see this ownership getting in a bidding war for a first time HC.
He's a hot name now, he can and has shown, to be picky about what team he wants to lead.
Kind of like the same thing Micah saying he doesn't want the bag, but will end up getting the bag (biggest bag)https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...putes-report-of-15-million-salary-expectation

You think he personally knew Scott Tolzein? or Lunda Wells? You think he knew Scott Linehan?Jerry doesn’t personally know Ben Johnson.
That’s why.
This has been my feeling as well. The biggest caveat though is that Amon Ra became the guy we see after Johnson was promotedYeah I would agree. Granted I'm a Ben Johnson fan, and would welcome him with open arms, but there does need to be some caution built in here. This offense wont be doing a 180 under Johnson unless we increase the talent level. Jason Garrett was an offensive genius with the 2016 Cowboys team and I'd argue Detroit's 2024 offense had way more talent.
No it's not the same thing .....did you read the article? As many insiders and his agents say as coordinator getting his first opportunity, he's in no position to make demands as a top-paid HC.Kind of like the same thing Micah saying he doesn't want the bag, but will end up getting the bag (biggest bag)

Facts.Money, and I’m sure he’d like to pick his own staff. It’s just not happening here. This is a long shot bet because other teams will be willing to meet those demands.
99% fans will believe whatever they're told, especially when it fits their narrative. This is a prime example. No it's not the same thing .....did you read the article? He doesn’t go with the hot guy for two reasons. One, the hot guy would garner more media attention and Jerry wants to be the face of the team. Two, the hot guy will want something above minimum wageIt sounds good because he's a hot hot hot name, knowing Jerry he doesn't always go for the hot name, he'd rather go for a retread or someone that we may have never heard of. Does Jerry know something about Ben that we don't, not sure they're able to talk to them yet for them to get a better feel for him. Also claiming that he doesn't expect 15 million is easy but is he going to accept an offer that is going to rank him near the bottom of what some active HC's are earning today? Highly doubt it.Kind of like the same thing Micah saying he doesn't want the bag, but will end up getting the bag (biggest bag)
I think he’d jump on it if he got a real offer. But he’s not gonna take a Jerry offer. If you want a good HC you have to pay them. Jerry looking for the guy who will work for minimum wage on a short term deal. That’s leaves you only the desperate as an optionBecause he doesn’t want anything to do with this circus
