That's right, Walter Payton was an inferior talent too. Because he faced crappy competition.

I never said DeAngelo Williams was an "inferior" talent...the point was somebody said Williams would be better is USC with all that talent on the team (and he probably would be) but at the same time, if Bush ran against extremely poor competition all the time instead of the Pac 10, Notre Dame, OU, Texas etc etc then his numbers would have been better too

from a pure talent standpoint, there is no comparison between the two really

Answer this question though-If DeAngelo Williams played on USC the past 2 years and Reggie Bush had played on Memphis the past 2 years who would be going higher in the draft ?? Williams is better suited for the NFL. When i see Reggie Bush I see Eric Metcalf/Dave Megget. My god, analysts are saying that Bush can hold up by only giving him 15 touches per game ? You really wanna draft a guy #1 that's only get 15 touches a game. 205 pound RB??

Bush is bigger than Williams. Williams is only 5'9", Parcells would never draft him in the first.

I have heard the same thing about Williams- he is not a guy who will guts it out. I can guarantee that BP will go nowhere near someone like that.

I think there are better prospects out there that actually fit our needs. I have nothing aginst Williams but with the LB in this draft and our need at that position makes them the better selection. I also have some concerns about Jones health issues but more than willing to go into the season with Jones and Barber at RB

Don't sleep on Barber...That kid showed serious skill as a rookie. I was hoping he would get the ball more than Jones in the second half of the season. Barber runs hard and picks up the extra yard at the end of a play. No break away speed but a real player for sure. We are fine at RB , time to strengthen the team in a different spot. Williams should be a good pro player but we have more pressing needs to address.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I'd rather select Patrick Cobbs (UNT) in the 5th or 6th round. He led the nation in rushing for 2003, then was hurt early in 2004. DeAngelo Williams, led the nation in rushing for 2004.

I don't know about drafting him, but I am sure we would go after him as an undrafted player. Freddie Kitchens coached and recruited him.

I posted this in the other kiss up to Deangelo Williams thread...

read this from PFW on Deangelo Williams, pay attention to the bold parts-

has a maxed out frame and will not get much bigger, rarely runs out of the I formation and alot of yardage came on delayed runs, not a powerful runner who is going to make a living running between tackles, does not like contact, needs to take better care of the football (read, he fumbles) not an accomplished blocker, decided to sit out with a mild injury vs Tennessee, the best defense he would face all yr and would not play hurt or show the heart of a champion (my insert, so people need to stop with the Emmitt comparisons) acts as if he is the mayor of Memphis and expects to be treated like royalty, not a great practice player and does not do alot of extra work to improve...has a big ego and could change afte a big payday, is shorter than scouts would like, does not have great size and durability is a concern, puts himself first and is not a great team player

David

The TN quote is full of crap. He said he could play but not start so Tommy West said he couldn't play period. He wanted to play but the coach chose not to play him and the team player comment couldn't be further from the truth either. He did everything he could to help Memphis win.
