Lets face it we have no NT, and dont even say ferguson hes coming off a serious injury and hes 32, and tank johnson is to small to take that role and so is ratliff. So Haynesworth yes will be asking for a big price tag, but if we can get a solid #2 reciever via trade draft or FA, clear up the secondary through the draft why not pay big bucks for this 320Lb monster. He will take the double team every play and thats something we havnt had. With pass rushers like canty, ellis, spencer if he gets more playing time and of course you know who gettin this beast would be dominant for our D-line and our defense period. I know we have bigger issues then a Nt but if we can make some moves without using alot of cap get rid of some veteran players and draft well i say this guy should be our FA target. What do you guys think?

I think its a terrible idea. Not a need. Trying to make it a need by saying what Dallas currently has sucks doesn't work for me.

I thought Ratliff was great last year and I see no reason why Fergy couldn't play as he did before the injury.

We have THREE players that can play NT and play it WELL.

What the hell are you smoking?

Of course I'd rather see Ratliff at LE (STARTING) and Fergie manning the middle with Tank backing him up, but we don't "need" a NT.

Are you kidding me, we have a 33 soon to be 34 ferguson whos coming off a serious bicep injury, ratliff who i think when spears gets traded he will be taking his spot so who do we have left? A barely 300lb tank johnson who didnt show much after getting back in the nfl? Alrightyyy

i think we have bigger needs than spending a lot of money just because he is the best free agent. We need secondary and WR help and a backup rb to MB3 more than anything IMO

he keeps pointing out Tank as our smallest DT.

Ratliff 6'4 298
Johnson 6'3 300

Not much difference between them

the surgery to suture the bicep is easy and routine. it also results in a full recovery. Ferg will be rested and ready to go next year chomping at the bit. Rack is right though.

Ratliff-Ferg/Tank-Canty is one heck of a line. Ratliff and Ware lined up on the same side would be sick.

aside from hating the guy for what he did a few years ago, why spend top FA money on something that's not really a huge need? it makes no sense
can he cover slot WRs?

They won't go after Haynesworth, but a huge run-stuffing NT in the draft should be a priority.

I really don't want to see Haynesworth in Dallas but I do agree with the poster theat we have a need for a NT. Ratliff is going to be an end, if we can believe what the coaching staff is saying. Fergy is older and his contract is not cheap. Tank is not a hold the line, push the pocket kind of NT. He uses quickness to get in the backfield and often, he runs himself out of as many plays as he makes. He may improve and I don't think you can discount that possability but I do believe that we need another powerful NT. I just don't want Haynesworth.

I agree with most of this. I think we need a true starter at NT. No disrespect to what Ratliff accomplished this year, and to how Ferguson played the year before, but neither one of them had much impact against the pass. We rarely see our line getting pressure up the middle, and when we do, it's usually the result of a stunt. I'd love to see opposing QB's last option taken away from them by a monster in the middle pushing the pocket back. I can't tell you how many times I've read "Ware was so close, but he took a step into the pocket to avoid the sack". If we get a Haynesworth, those plays turn into sacks, and not converted 3rd and 13's.

I don't like the idea of having a man on this team that would rake his cleats across another players face, but having watched him play several times last year, I'd love to see Haynesworth the football player collapsing the pocket on damn near every passing play. It would take us to a new level.

There's nothing wrong with trying to improve a position we're already OK at...and Haynesworth, as big of a ****-bag as he is, would be a tremendous improvement.

Everyone says no, but I look at it like this.

Spencer - Ratliff - Tank - Haynesworth - Ware

Hows that for a a front four? (dline plus both OLBs)

What people don't get is Haynesworth could easily play DE in a 3-4. He has everything a DE needs in a 3-4. Size, leverage, run stopping ability and big-time pass rush. I would take him over Canty in a heartbeat for my DE! Not to mention he can backup NT at 320lbs!

Keep in mind that I like Tank, but I'd rather see:

Ware - Canty - Haynesworth - Ratliff - Ellis/Spencer
