Why not JGarrett for HC?

Four years ago the thought was BP was a great hire. That didn't seem to work out. So maybe, since thoughts are that JGarrett isn't the right hire - things will work out. Just maybe.

stop enabling jerry as fans.

if any other team did this we'd be laughing and mocking, for good reason.

If Garrett gets the job I hope he can do the job, I admit he would not be my top 10 list but I will hold off judgement of the hire until I see how he does. I do think he is a smart guy but I do worry about his ability to lead this team

Garrett must have given a hell of an interview. :laugh2:

Or Jason is finally giving Jerry the photo negatives from the party years.

this reminds me of the time a few years ago when Glen Sather (GM of NY Rangers) hired Brian Trottier as coach because he wrote a 200+ page outline with good handwriting. Turned down notable, proven, hungry candidates.

lasted 1/3 of the season.

i'll reserve judgement of any of our coaches until the games begin but Jerruh is taking huge risks with little rewards if this happens.

:laugh2: Maybe so. If by some chance Garrett is named HC I would hope fans will give him a chance before passing judgement on him and claiming him as nothing but a puppet.

Garrett is sharp as a geurker knife, he can do it, quite the dark horse but also capable.

Watch it work, no more obscure a hire than Sean Payton or Lovie Smith at one time.

Yes Smith was a coordinator but who payed much mind to his St.Louis defenses? Few.

Why don't we just raffle off the HC position then?

Whoever we get won't have much less experience than Garrett, and we can make some money towards TO's spring roster bonus while we're at it.

:)

You mean to candidates like Mike Singletary and Norm Chow or Ron Rivera or Wade Phillips or Les Miles?

Sounds like a gamble no matter what direction is taken.

For the record, I would say much the same thing about Singletary, I have the exact same reservations about him being given the HC spot. DC, maybe, not HC.

Chow, Rivera and Phillips have extensive NFL experience and established resumes.

As for Miles, personally I don't want any college coach being handed the HC job either.

Chow and Rivera have never been a headcoach and many doubt Chow's ability to be one, Phillips was HC for Denver, Buffalo and an interim for New Orleans and Atlanta, so what.

Basically dallas will roll the dice this year.

I don't want Chow anyway, not many do.

Rivera at least has several years as an assistant and has helped build a Superbowl defense. Phillips has engineered a top ranked defense multiple times on multiple teams with multiple schemes.

Garrett, uh, he, um, he made Joey Harrington look a little better for a couple games. Whoo.

You have to be much more than intelligent to be a coach in this league. Can Garrett deal with TO? I don't know. What about when things aren't going well and the vulcheresque media start slamming down on him, will he start to question himself?

I'm just saying that you have to bring more to the table as a coach for an NFL team, because it's not just about play calling.

Jason is also pragmatic, in 1994 when he started on thanksgiving his wife told him at dinner to just throw it high and deep to Alvin Harper.

He did for two touchdown passes.

He's smart, he's unknown, he's darkhorse, he's not the sexy pick but he is likely very capable.

Wow. I don't know what to say about this. Perhaps some relationship with Stephen also figures into the picture. Both are relatively the same age, and they hope Garrett will succeed and be around for the long haul.

The fly in your ointment is that Payton was previously asst HC with us, while Lovie was DC with St Louis. Garrett has been coordinator nowhere. I like the guy; bring him in as QB coach or OC this year, but HC? Are you betting against Dallas with the sports book next year? Just curious.
