Why Not Put Romo on IR?

Much ado about nothing. We're not making the playoffs. Good God does anyone think Matt Cassel is going to win in Lambeau next week, let alone 5 straight?

Who cares how they designate Romo?

We are mathematically still alive. They should plan accordingly until they are not. If we made the playoffs and Cassell got hurt who do you want coming in Romo or Moore? Easy answer!

When we are a mathematically eliminated go ahead and IR him.

This is no different than any other team would do. Quit making crap up!

Moore? Agreed

He's one of the best QBs in the league, and the team has a distant shot at the postseason where he might be medically cleared to return. Why in the world would you IR him and save that spot for a bottom roster guy you're going to churn in a week or two, anyway? That makes no sense.

I don't get it. He's played in only 4 games, and in those four games, he never looked in top form, throwing more INT's than TD's. Yes, he is Tony Romo...granted.

But if Cassel were actually to lead us to 5 straight victories and an 8-8 record, and if that 8-8 record magically gave us the division title, are you telling me we'd bench the QB who's been playing with the hot hand on the road and at home, the guy who got us there, and insert a recovering Romo with all the rust after what we just saw from him coming off the first layoff?

As QB's go, Cassel can't be listed on the same page, maybe not the same chapter as Romo in the NFL, but no way in the world would I bench a hot QB and go back to the guy coming off injury. Romo should be on IR now, in my opinion.

You're assuming Cassel had the hot hand to get us there. What if all the sudden our defense turns opportunistic and our ST starts making plays over the next 5 games? Games can be won without having stellar QB play, but obviously this is Dallas, and we haven't won games without stellar QB since Bledsoe/Testeverde.

I sincerely believe Cassel could come in, throw 15 touchdowns and no picks, lead us to the playoffs and this team would still play Romo the instant he is healthy enough. Nothing this team has done or said in as long as I can remember has shown they actually have a pulse for the personnel and the game. Garret and Jerry will give the "Romo is our man speech" and they'll put him in.

lol yeah I think this is what would happen, makes no sense but....... plus they would play tony even if he was not healthy or fully healed !
That is what we saw in Carolina game, a not ready to play romo, and his cb was obviously not healed good.
Plus he still puts his elbow down to break his fall, and he cant do that, but he does !! and that is too much pressure on that bone.

It does make sense to have tony as a backup if cassel got hurt and we had a chance. But they will not have tony be bkup.

Because posters on here are now in an extreme hurry to trash each and every decision the team makes. Unless they are a spouse or direct relative of Keith Smith or some other PS player who wants them making another couple of grand a game on the 53, then its funny to watch logic go out the window in some of the arguments against the team's management.

I would imagine this is just about ticket sales and the idea of keeping hope alive in the event that by some miracle we find ourselves in the playoffs.

If Dallas loses tonight that will move this closer to Romo simply going on IR to officially signal the end of a very horrible season.

It is just for optics, I am pretty sure the most folks at VR don't think Cassel is going to be winning 5 consecutive games.

Once we are mathematically eliminated, I am sure Romo will go to IR and Moore will probably get a game or two to evaluate him for next season.

That would be my guess.

I know you're paying the guy a bizzilion dollars and all, but it's like they have no respect for the personal being of a player. You bring the guy back after breaking his collar bone, then he breaks it again, quite easily I might add, and now you're wanting to bring him back if we make the playoffs to break it again. It's actually sad.

& he'd deserve it.
