Why only these 3?

So far we have only let go players who aren't "homegrown" in our culture of mediocrity (or worse). I'll believe Jerry is starting to care when Crawford/Woods/Smith/Lewis/Anyone else goes. So far all this suggests is that Jerry was playing Scooby Doo trying to find the "anonymous voice".
I think you hit it on the head, these are easy cuts that may have more to do with revenge, than making the team better.

...I predict 2 more will get the shaft. MM is cleaning house. He realizes first place is still on the plate. ;)...

The culture of this team has been uninspired and soft for years. Yet, the 3 cuts were all players that were just signed this past off season. Said players probably don't have a cozy connection with Jerry. There are more "RKG" that need to go. Come on Jerry, send a message, cut Jaylon and both Woods and lets move on.
It must be done to give this fan base any hope moving forward...If you don’t cut those two worthless sorry *** players it’s all a front.. easy to cut bait with new faces, but it’s the core players that are the problem.

Who says they are done?
After the Steelers game the following Sunday -November 8th- Cowboys go on their bye. Perhaps the plan is to make more changes then...but they will have extra time to promote seldom-used\ practice squad players and get them reps before the team returns to action at Minnesota Nov. 22nd.

You gotta start somewhere might as well start with the dead weight. Next up Jaylon and Dlaw.

disloyalty.
lack of effort.
not hard really...he is a players owner.
he is loyal to his players.
when he is betrayed....the old man with the money gets pissed.

It doesnt make financial sense to cut Jaylon any earlier than next year:

As for Crawford, my only guess as to why he isnt already cut is loyalty. I suspect he has been a good solider and we all know how the Jones' are. That said, this is the last year on his contract so they wont have to do anything with him after the season is over.
It makes sense to bench him though.

What's this obsession with a message? The only message these moves send is the front office screwed up putting together this team.

Most teams would fire the GM who assembled this bunch. In Dallas people root for the GM, as if he's a victim of these players.
Rightly pointed out Jake from State Farm. Now can I get my Rodgers rate. :p

Salary cap implications keep a lot of players around longer than liked.

Why cut Jaylon? Find a way to use him a bit better. He has some talent, he just might need better coaching.

They can't afford to cut Jaylon until a post June 1st designation next year.

But they can NOT afford to not bench him either. If this is really about 'sending a message', send one. Show that poor play will not just be intentionally overlooked because they paid you.

That goes for other guys, like Elliott and Crawford as well.

You can't do anything about contracts or sunk costs, but you can do something about putting the same underachievers on the field as much, or at all.

The three guys they sent packing were easy targets and easily cuttable. Low hanging fruit. It's a start, but something that has to continue. They're not close to done, and I hope they don't mistakenly think that this is good enough.

The "cut a layer to send message" is BS. No team will cut a player to send a message. Jimmy never cut a player that was needed on the team. By fans on here standards, Leon Lett should have been cup like the Richards and Ropers and Asthma guy. Those guys were actually expendable, Lett was not.

These 3 guys were expendable, and regardless to contrary belief, Jason is not. He is the 3rd leading tackler in the NFL. Though many don't think he ever misses a tackle.
I have not liked his play overall at times, But no way you cut this guy, unless it is from shaving.

And Gurley from the Rams was not cut to send a message. It was a business decision based on his play after his injuries. They just decided to move on. Jerry is not to that point, and who do you replace him with? There is not ONE younger player on the team that can equal half his production.

These 3 players were bringing nothing, so time to move on. Well Griffen was doing a little, but better we got the draft pick, instead of taking a chance on a comp pick.
