wanna know why we have so many issues on the OL. look at the players we have acquired.

1st rounder Tyron Smith (2011)

4th rounder Doug Free
4th rounder David Arkin

3rd rounder Derrick Dockery (2003) too old probably doesnt make it
5th rounder Daniel Loper (2005) too old camp body

7th rounder Bill Nagy
7th rounder Mackenzy Bernadeau
UDFA Nate Livings
UDFA Phil Costa
UDFA Harland Gunn
UDFA Ronald Leary

now i understand that you can find someone in the late rounds or as a udfa but we are basically trying to mold the majority of our line from 7th rounders and UDFA's. not good imo

They're not poor they play in the NFL! NFL pays good money. Now me you can say im poor.

We're saving money for skill position players and guys that fill the seats and sell jerseys though!

UDFAs - the same reason we're so poor at Quarterback.

Whoops.

amen are you spot on...yes you are....Our O-Line is going to get slaughtered this year.:bang2:

Well....in the 90's we had

Nate Newton....who was cut by the Commanders....left the USFL...and signed as a FA with Dallas

John Gesek who was drafted in the tenth round of the 1987

We had Mark Tuinei ....who signed with the Dallas Cowboys in 1983 as a rookie free agent and made the team as a defensive tackle

Kevin Gogan.....who was elected in the eighth round by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1987 NFL Draft

Eric Williams ....who was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round of the 1991 NFL Draft,

and

the pot smoker :)

Stepnoski, was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round of the 1989 NFL Draft....and retired and became a spokemen to leagalize pot ..(which I just find funny)

Im just sayin........;)

Callahan is suppose to be a great teacher..... Looks like he has more work to do for sure.... Odds are we will add more players as camp cuts take place....... If we are still a mess wk one, Ill be screaming with the rest of you.

We simply haven't drafted/developed well in 20 years on the offensive line. We were OK for about a 1-2 year window when we dumped a bunch of money in free agents, but that isn't how a good line is built.

Best OL in Cowboys History had a UDFA converted DT to LT, and undrafted LG, a 3rd round C, a 2nd round RG, and a 3rd round RT.

Let's also not forget that Stepnoski was a guard who the Cowboys converted to center.

other than Tyron Smith, and maybe Free, i dont think any of the other 3 starters are the future. this OL will be revamped next offseason.

Of course.

Might as well just trade away every draft pick to acquire players who are already known commodities.

for that time period that made it 3 first day picks.

How many do we have now?

And even if you take out the first day pick part, we have one guy who was drafted in the first rd and then what? Our next highest is 4th rd who is not looking all that great at the moment but there is hope he will return to form.

Other then that frankly what we have are playing DOWN to where they were picked or UDFA

Thanks for the assist. I was afraid that I was going to have to actually explain it.

regardless of where we choose oline in the draft the fact of the matter is we aren't hitting on enough of our picks. the giants replaced half of their line last season and didn't run into as many issues as we have. either we are not putting enough emphasis on the position or the people responsible for scouting that unit are not doing their jobs.
