Why Parcells should Retire

If a head coach has to take some time off and decide if he has the energy to go through another year of leading a storied and great franchise, then he just doesn't have what it takes anymore!

This is the Dallas Cowboys! This decision should be a no-brainer!

If Parcells can't make the right decision, then Jones needs to make it for him! Unless this is part of Jones' plan; he's keeping Parcells for one more year until he can get the coach he covets: Bill Cowher.

cowher won the SB once in 15 seasons I personally think he would be a downgrade from parcells. Oh and you didn't see the million other threads about bill sucking?

The REASON he should retire is.... if he plans on coming back and giving us more of the same... he should retire.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

Eh. Then Seattle would be without Holmgren. He basically said the exact same thing in the lead-up to the Dallas game. That he takes a few days after the season to decide if he still has the energy for it, but for some reason doesn't get nearly the attention that BP gets when he does it.

Coach Almighty has gone through his inflated end of season contemplations for the last few years and what has been the result? The same old same old. Last year he basically extorted a raise. Think about that for achieving team mediocrity and for orchestrating a fatal December nose dive in 2005 he got more money and an extension.

I don't have a problem with him taking a LITTLE time to make up his mind, say a week or so. I wonder what all is involved in taking about a month, however. That's the sort of thing that feeds speculation that more is going on than just a decision that's in the hands of one person, not that it needs much help.

If we're talking about a life-changing event like marriage, moving cross-country to a new job, etc. ok. A month is probably warranted. But what suddenly happens at the end of a season that weeks must pass before Parcells can convince himself that he still has it? He makes those decisions on other people in a fraction of that in many cases. I'll admit that at this point, he may not know, but THAT should tell him something as well.

Onward through the fog...

Mornin' Santiago.

Yep, it's Drama Queen time.

Same thing, every year.

Well he likes the attention.......Could get him signed for a few more commercials.

OH!!! and a Good Morning to you Juke.

Most likely Bill should go, BUT who is there out there to replace him?

No Cowher, he wants a year off and even if he didn't we'd have to trade for him.

Ferentz is staying put.

We need a young, fiery guy that will take the 3-4 and get this team going.

A fresh start. Won't happen this year.

Well, ya know, that's just the problem with this.

There is no clear cut replacement. Sometimes ya gotta have the smarts to see talent in a young guy...and roll the dice.

Mangini for instance. Now, the Jets might fall apart next year but there is no arguing that he did a great job this year.

I don't think Jerry has the smarts to be able to uncover a young rising star.

Cowher is not a downgrade from Parcells, Bill has not won Superbowl in over a decade nor has he won even a playoff game in years. I would take Cowher in a nano-second. Then we would see a physical team that plays with passion and heart.

Todd Bowles for HC!
