Joe Montana's Super Bowl numbers:

1981 XVI SFO CIN 14 of 22 157 Yards 1 TD 0 INT 100.0 Rating
1984 XIX SFO MIA 24 of 35 331 Yards 3 TD 0 INT 127.2 Rating
1988 XXIII SFO CIN 23 of 36 357 Yards 2 TD 0 INT 115.2 Rating
1989 XXIV SFO DEN 22 of 29 297 Yards 5 TD 0 INT 147.6 Rating

Super Bowl Totals: 83 of 122 1142 Yards 11 TD 0 INT 127.8 Rating

That's amazing.

Peyton Manning could quite likely go down in history alongside Brett Favre. Incredible all time records rewriting the record books, a whole bunch of MVP's, 1 Super Bowl win and 1 Super Bowl loss. But fair or unfair, he just won't be considered better than Montana unless he can get another championship or two.

How has no one mentioned Tom Brady? The guy has 3 super bowls and one of the best statistical seasons ever, with several years left in his career.

Burm would trade Romo for Eli Manning.... so...

Vintage you are full of crap. When have I ever mentioned that Sheli was worth a bucket of warm spit?

Today's rules favor the passing game and provide much more protection to QBs.

Manning is quite good, but his task is much easier. I'm not convinced that Manning is any better than Dan Fouts was. Manning is luckier though, because he's planning under more advantageous circumstances. And given Aikman's pure throwing accuracy, he'd have done at least as well as P. Manning under today's rules.

The article overstates Montana's supporting cast. Look at the roster of his first Super Bowl championship team ....

Montana is the clear number 1 for me. I loved Staubach and in his prime, no one was better. But Montana was as good and his prime was longer, so he gets the nod.

That's amazing.

Especially when you look at Peyton's super bowl win stats.

2007
Wild Card 30-38 268 yards 1 td-3int's 71.9 rating
Division 15-30 170 yards 0 td-2 int's 39.6 rating
Champion 27-47 349 yards 1 td 1 int 79.1 rating
Superbowl 25-38 247 yards 1 td-1int 81.8 rating

So he averaged

24 completions 38.25 attempts 258 ypg .75 tds/1.75 int's and a 68.1 rating for the post season that year.

It's not even close.

Your second post in this thread places such a premium on postseason success as the ultimate judge of QBs.

Eli has had more postseason success than Romo.

Since you are the model of consistency, I can only assume you'd rather have Eli's postseason success leading the team than Romo and conclude that you view Eli as superior to Romo... because of the postseason success of Eli.

And you being the model of consistency that you are.

And you are about as logical as a piece of wet rope. Only you would include Sheli in the best of all time debate. You are obviously a closet Giant fan.

I wouldn't include Eli in any discussion. He got lucky. Kudos to him.

You are the one flaunting the "postseason success" means everything mantra. Therefore, I can only conclude you must love Eli moreso than Romo due to teh postseasunz!

You are full of it. I maintain you are a giant fan. They are the only ones that would mention Sheli. No one else in this thread compares him to the best of all time. Only you. Maybe you just cannot read? Only the best of all time are talked about in this thread, and to me the tie breaker is post season performance. If you are so smart then what is more important than how you play in the post season. I await your drivel.

No one compared Eli to the greatest of all time.

You said postseason success was the definitive measuring stick amongst QBs.

So naturally, I can only imagine that you rank Eli ahead of Romo.

naturally for someone with less than regular cognitive abilities.

You sound like a lawyer- picking bits and pieces and coming up with something that is so far from the truth its not even in the same galaxy.

Maybe I should take this step by step for the mentally limited:

Manning is touted by some as being better than montana; others and myself agree that Manning is a great QB; but that what makes Montana better is that Montana was great in the post season and Manning is not.

Now I am done with this thread. Go argue with yourself in a corner.

I see you riding Eli's nuts like a boss.
