So i was able to go to a practice yesterday and the scrimmage today, and something really struck me about everyone's hot name right now, Sam Hurd.

Yes, he looks great, he's quick, and tall and has good hands.

But what was most interesting was this:

We all know Hurd's been working with TO. But better than that, he's a quick study.

After practice on friday, he asked TO about a problem he had catching the ball when he had to jump over the defender. They talked a bit about it, then TO took him out and set up a drill with the practice dummies where Hurd had to catch over them. They worked on it for about 25 minutes, TO throwing Hurd catching. They then went to the juggs machine and worked there for at least another 20 minutes (they were still going when i left).

Cut to today's scrimmage. Twice hurd was in the situation of having to catch a ball while reaching over the defender, and twice he did it. His hard work paid off big time.

After the scrimmage he worked with TO again on the juggs machine for another 45 minutes.

I've seen it reported that the two 'work together for a couple minutes after practice'. To me that doesn't really tell the whole story. I hear that and think 5-10, not 45.

So the kid's got skills, and he's working hard on them. And no matter what your opinion is on 81, he doesn't have to be helping the kid out like this. Just something to ponder.
