Yes, that's all we have this season but why are we limiting ourselves to him as our future QB? Haven't we learned our lesson with the Quincy Carter/Chad Hutchinson/Drew Henson/Vinny Testaverde/Drew Bledsoe/TonyRomo carousel?

Let's not disrespect the QB position any longer/ Let's get a legitimate prospect here. I'm not talking ex-baseball players, old men, or late round scrub. How about we actually trade up to acquire a legitimate QB prospect in the first 10 picks? I know this is a novel concept but it kind of worked with Troy Aikman.

Well the beauty of playing him now...is we should have an idea if we need to draft a QB in the first next year or not.

I have said many times that Jerry has tried to hit a home run with a wiffle ball bat with these QBs (qc, hutch, henson, romo).

But Romo gets his chance now. Who knows maybe it pans out, maybe it does not.

What we should know is if the team thinks he will be the future or do we need to draft a QB next year.

I don't want a situation where Romo really turns into something special this season yet we draft a QB high anyways instead of other players/positions we need.

We've got the rest of the season to see what Romo has and it is time to find out. My fear is reaching on a QB in the 07 draft that does not seem to be that deep w/the Troy Aikman types in it unless you count B. Quinn. We're not gonna get to Quinn though. So who are the QBs coming out that we could go after?

You are never going to get a Troy Aikman-type if you are drafting late in the first round otherwise you settle on the JP Losmans of the world. The point is you trade up or make a significant offer to the team that has his draft rights. The problem is you guys want to have your cake and eat it too. I'm saying we make the necessary sacrafice to get our future QB. If Quinn is the real deal then you offer that team 2 first round picks or whatever to make it happen.

Start Romo now and next year but you should draft a real QB next year regardless. Hey, what's the worst scenario, you end up like San Diego? Doesn't seem too bad to me

the drew brees thing is simple, we had drew under contract. you have to look at who was there when we signed drew, you can't sign guys and then go sigfn aniother the next year. the cap does'nt allow for that.i think the smart move would be play romo the rest of the way and see what he has. if he has "it" then we need a backup, if not then we have to move up in the draft and take a qb.i think by seasons end we will know what we have in romo. he will have his struggles but he has to stop the play ground stuff. if he can do that then i think he can be a solid qb. but he has to prove that he can make the decisions

Reading all these replies makes me sick!!! We are a mediocre team that has ignored the quarterback position for 10 years. The Cowboys of the 70's-80's were always atleast contenders. Last night was embarrassing and Bill Parcells is a flop. We signed all these veteran players to win now and here we are back at the beginning again searching for our quarterback!

It all depends if Romo shows something or not IMO.

In all fairness, this is a Parcells issue. I have a feeling Jerry Jones is a lot like us and would prefer to do it the right way but Parcells is insistent upon going with his guys. If Parcells leaves at the end of this season, I think you will see Jerry make a bold move to acquire Brady Quinn or someone of that stature.

What you are saying is 100% accurate. I just don't believe Romo will show something. His style is too erratic. I'm a little conservative when it comes to QB's. Give me an old school pocket passer who demonstrates poise and can read a defense over some athletic kid.

We don't know if Romo is the guy or not. If all we are going to do is play a guy for a half and then throw him away why bother getting another QB? Dallas could go out and draft a QB in the 1st rd but you still run the risk except you run that risk at a very high price. I'm not opposed to taking the risk but before doing that I would like to give a young guy a legit shot and proving himself.

We can do both. He is going to get his shot this year regardless. We can draft a guy next season and allow Romo to start. If Romo turns out to be special then we can trade him or our drafted player or keep Romo as a backup. It didn't really hurt the Chargers.

I would much rather do that then forgive Romo for the rest of this season. Not draft a player next year and then wait until the end of NEXT season until we realize we need a QB. In that scenario,we would have squandered another season.

Well of course it would be nice to have that sort of player at the position and be done with it.

But in the last 10 years or so theres a lot more evidence than just Brady or Dilfer to show that teams have gotten by without.

How many SB rings or even appearences in a losing cause do the supposed blue chippers have over that time period vs the number of them by guys named "fred"?

Brady, late round pick.. Warner, sacking groceries inbetween looks, Chandler, Dilfer, Gannon, Collins, Johnson, Delhomme, Hasselbeck.

Who are the blue chippers that should've "owned" this era and what have they done.. other than in some cases win a lot of games short of the ones that matter.
