Maybe I am missing something but exactly what did those so down and disappointed now see in this team for this season?

What did they do to address the OL, WR and TE positions? And the coaching, what did they do there?

It was an 9 win team only because the Eagles didn't need the win. It was an 8-8 team. Where did it improve?

This wasn't the 2014 or 2016 teams coming off the best record in the NFC. This was a flawed team. And a team that couldn't overcome the loss of one starter.

And how did you dismiss the QB struggles of the last half of 2017? Sell yourself that his one and only good season, 2016, was the real one and all others were pretenders?

Is it that you felt that Monday night game would be the turn it up for this team for this season. While TEN was hardly a good team, what had you seen from your Cowboys to make you believe they were/are a good team?

We discuss this every season about fan expectations and the resulting effect and I am puzzled why so many are all of the sudden ready to turn in their fan card and call it over. If it is forced optimism dashed on the rocks of reality, I get that. Nothing wrong with that.

At least now, the Cowboys have nothing really to lose...and may just play an open game to challenge an opponent, with what they have. Not what they don't have to bring to the table. This includes a gambler's approach to winning...finally, challenging on hands.

The team improved on defense, and it took steps to help the O-Line, and in the end it's unrealistic to expect clear and certain offseason improvement at every position where one might be desired anyway. Sometimes the man waiting in the wings has to step up. And I think we were seeing that at TE before Swaim got hurt, but unfortunately other areas it hasn't worked as well.

What I would agree with is that there shouldn't be any shock that the team isn't a serious contender, although I think it was pretty reasonable to expect the offense to be better than it has been. There was still a lot that remained to be seen, and of course, what we've seen has been disappointing.

Ultimately though it just comes down to the nature of fandom, and of sports. The invested emotions and the nature of competition, and the desire to see things go well. A person can be realistic about the season, knowing it's an uphill climb with some long odds, but would be contrary to the very essence of sports to give up before the season even begins. If that's in a person's nature I can promise you that person never had any personal success in sports.

I've been down on this team since 2016. Golden opportunity to win with a real QB thrown away because people don't know the difference between causation and correlation. That QB, that RB, that defense... Not sure if we would have won a super bowl, but I think we could have competed for one.

I didn't think we should re-sign Dez, but once you've done that, you're hooked to Romo. I wanted to draft Elliott at #4 and once you do that, you're hooked to Romo.

The Front Office got high on a dream and blew this team up and it is falling down on their heads. Garrett is damn near out of scapegoats. He has Linehan and Dak left. He COULD blame the offensive line, but some a lot of that blows back onto him.

The great thing about running the Cowboys Front Office is you never run out of scapegoats.

Hire a meh coach, have meh seasons, fire him and replace with another meh coach. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I love the Cowboys because of lifelong loyalty. But when I take the fan glasses off, this is not a very good team. There’s enough talent to be doing better than their record, but between the carney-GM and the mediocre head coach whose message has to be wearing thin in that locker room, there’s little reason to think playoffs are possible.

Who's down? I'm happy the dream of getting rid of Garrett is getting closer. Do I think it will happen? Nope it's not going to happen. Sad but true. I could see an extension before a firing. LMAO

I think it's just the repetitive BS with this team, owner and coach. I don't think anyone expected Super Bowl, but what we're seeing is really just a lost cause. Even with some quality talent in place. Garrett sucks , he's always sucked, but I think fans are just tired of it. completely spent. I hate seeing him on the sidelines. It's the nightmare that won't go away. I cringe seeing jerry and family in their skybox with that stupid look on their faces. The whole ball of wax is very disheartening.

Im down bc we can't even enjoy sucking to get a good draft pick because it's gone....

We're next year's next year's champions...thats why I'm down

..Coach, Jerry should give you a bonus for all those likes.. lol.. ;)..

Well I never thought the offense was going to be this bad. I thought that the OL would still be great and that Zeke would still be able to get his yards. Yea I worried about the WR's and Dak's continued regression but thought we could overcome it by running the ball. I predicted 9 wins although I said anywhere from 7 to 9 I could see.

This is exactly what i never understood, they built the team for Romo then gave the team to somebody who couldn't utilize what they built it to do. I will never ever understand that

I'm not down at all. I figured the team wasn't going to be good (though not this bad), heading into the season.

I also promised myself I wasn't going to let this team effect me negatively anymore. I now view it as entertainment and nothing more - And it feels great. If we win, awesome. If we lose, whatever.
