I'll be honest. I thought we would be an average team but this level of suck even shocks me.
Do we even finish the season 8-8?
Do we even finish the season 8-8?
The team improved on defense, and it took steps to help the O-Line, and in the end it's unrealistic to expect clear and certain offseason improvement at every position where one might be desired anyway. Sometimes the man waiting in the wings has to step up. And I think we were seeing that at TE before Swaim got hurt, but unfortunately other areas it hasn't worked as well.
What I would agree with is that there shouldn't be any shock that the team isn't a serious contender, although I think it was pretty reasonable to expect the offense to be better than it has been. There was still a lot that remained to be seen, and of course, what we've seen has been disappointing.
Ultimately though it just comes down to the nature of fandom, and of sports. The invested emotions and the nature of competition, and the desire to see things go well. A person can be realistic about the season, knowing it's an uphill climb with some long odds, but would be contrary to the very essence of sports to give up before the season even begins. If that's in a person's nature I can promise you that person never had any personal success in sports.
Dak suckered some peeps. But I saw through it all. A lot of peeps were excited cause he was fresh and energetic.
They didn't care how he threw the ball.
The changed the bar. It's seems that 200 yd games are now the benchmark of a good qb
The got fooled by qbr which benefits dink and dunk qbs.
Every week there was a different excuse. They wanted him to be the face of the franchise so bad that they talked mad junk about Romo. Compared Dak to Aikman. Said he was better than Rogers. Said we should get a first round pick for Dak. Lol
Last week some said we should pay him about 25 mil a year
Now the narrative is that the same system that Romo was successful in and the same system that Dak ran in 2016 is now junky. I'm positive that it's not the greatest system but I believe that a franchise qb could make it work.
I'm all for coaching change but I believe we are fooling ourselves if you think that 4 is the answer

Yep then are in crisis mgmt when it’s not sweet.Too many people drink the koolaid
The great thing about running the Cowboys Front Office is you never run out of scapegoats.
Hire a meh coach, have meh seasons, fire him and replace with another meh coach. Wash, rinse, repeat.
This is exactly what i never understood, they built the team for Romo then gave the team to somebody who couldn't utilize what they built it to do. I will never ever understand that
Maybe I am missing something but exactly what did those so down and disappointed now see in this team for this season?
What did they do to address the OL, WR and TE positions? And the coaching, what did they do there?
It was an 9 win team only because the Eagles didn't need the win. It was an 8-8 team. Where did it improve?
This wasn't the 2014 or 2016 teams coming off the best record in the NFC. This was a flawed team. And a team that couldn't overcome the loss of one starter.
And how did you dismiss the QB struggles of the last half of 2017? Sell yourself that his one and only good season, 2016, was the real one and all others were pretenders?
Is it that you felt that Monday night game would be the turn it up for this team for this season. While TEN was hardly a good team, what had you seen from your Cowboys to make you believe they were/are a good team?
We discuss this every season about fan expectations and the resulting effect and I am puzzled why so many are all of the sudden ready to turn in their fan card and call it over. If it is forced optimism dashed on the rocks of reality, I get that. Nothing wrong with that.
i am not ready to turn in my fan card...been a loyal fan since 1971....but the pain is so so so deep...i let the cowboys in and they rip my heart to shreds ..and i will probably let them back in again in future....i must have a serious mental disease?Maybe I am missing something but exactly what did those so down and disappointed now see in this team for this season?

Let's see:
1. Hire Dak's subordinate as his coach.
2. Trade oline coaches with a team who doesn't have a very good o-line.
3. Get 4 scrub TEs
4. See #3 for wide receivers, but we will just get lot of them.
5. Hire a journeyman WR coach to coach up this pile of garbage
Sounds about right. The only move they made this offseason that seems to have worked is getting Kris Richard in here, and that could just be smoke and mirrors.
Man, y'all know the only reason for the impetus of my very being a forum member of the forum was due to the initial preseason game #1 of the #4 in 2016 was toDak suckered some peeps. But I saw through it all. A lot of peeps were excited cause he was fresh and energetic.
