Why so hard for some to like Romo?

So many high first rd QB's fail. JJ is a business man and the thought of gambling on one of those has always rankled him. Sure he signed off on Troy, but that was as sure a thing as you will see. And he had just got the BOys and was still settling in. From that point on he has been very reluctant to use a first on a QB. That is why he went after Q- trying to get a cheap one. Same for Hutch, same for Henson. We could have taken Leftwich but he wanted to find out about Hutch and Q. Now we will be drafting so high that we would have to trade every pick we got just to get into the top 10; and really the only QB worth that kind of sacrifice next year is Quinn who will go first or at the worst top 3.

Billy Volek? No, that would have been Bob_Roberts, and to his credit Volek isn't a bad QB. I've never clamored for the Atlanta backup either, so don't go there.

The only QBs I have ever mentioned an interest in that weren't in the Draft are Daunte Culpepper, Drew Bledsoe, and Kurt Warner with the latter 2 as mentors while we groom a replacement. I briefly have mentioned Tim Couch and Kerry Collins, but none of these guys were "clamored for."

Yeah, it's real stupid to hope for a Tom Brady, John Elway, or Brett Favre caliber player on our football team. Forgive me, I bow to your superior understanding of winning football. [/sarcasm off]
sorrry.. Volek yes... Warner too. Ugh.

John Elway was drafted TWO decades ago... interesting you needed to go back and fetch a name that far.

Every team wants a #1 HOF QB but it's amazing only a couple exist per generation (or are you reserving space in Canton early for Eli and the likes?).

Deal with it.

Fetch a name that far back? I merely mentioned the kinds of QB I like best. If that chaps your butt oh well. Either you'll get over it or you won't. Deal with it.

I don't understand alot of you guys.

Some of you write "essays" about this and that, nitpicking every little detail, and now, Tony Romo, who just might be our future starting QB, a "rookie" Qb at that, has an outstanding performance and proves many of you wrong, and you don't have the cujones or class to give the guy his props when he does good.

Some of you guys are total noodles!

And for the record, "If" and "when" Henson lights it up, i'll gladly give the man his props and chow down on some crow.

It is sad indeed when some "loyal and knowledgeable" Cowboy fans, dislike a player so much they can't bring themselves to give the man his dues.

What has Romo done to deserve being treated like Quincy by some of you on this board?

Tony really needs to hear it from Cowboys fans that he is wanted here, not that he is just another Garrett or clip board holder. Otherwise he might take his talent elsewhere and you will be sorry!

Yes, I am a Romo fan. I think he has more talent than henson or Bledsoe. Yes, I think Romo should be the starter.

No I am not related to Tony Romo.
So do you think it hurts his feelings and affects his play negatively that some of us on this website think he may turn out to be an adequate backup but will never be a playoff type QB as a starter in the NFL????

and Hensonites get criticized...

I swear, I have yet to see Henson shown any of this man-love like I'm seeing from the Romonites towards Romo

If they are wearing the blue and silver, then I want them to be successful. I don't care if their name is Romo, Henson, Hutch or QC.

I've never understood why some fans openly root against some of our players.

I'll admit the last couple of years I didn't expect Romo to be anything more than an average backup at best. Right now, there's still a long way to go, but I actually think he has a chance to be a starter in this league. For all I know he may never throw a pass in a regular season game, but I now think he has a good chance to become something. I don't have this feeling about Henson, but I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

Neither have I.

I'm a Henson guy but I don't dislike Romo. If he's the next franchise QB, bring it on. I'll gladly cast Henson aside if Romo is the real deal because no matter what you have to have good QB play in the NFL to succeed. It's the equivalent to having top notch pitching in baseball. There's no substitute no matter how many Jeff Hostetlers and Trent Dilfers win Super Bowls. Those guys are exceptions to the rule, nothing more. Check your Super Bowl history and look at the names.

The Answer fully supports Romo, and The Answer likes the cut of his jib.

This kid is definitely a viable option as the #2 QB, and might even be capable of starting in 3 or 4 years when Bledsoe retires....until then it's Drew's show and he's merely another spectator.
