Why the 49er game is gonna be a close game.

Does this team have the talent to beat the 49ers like the Eagles did. Maybe but maybe not. Does this team have the talent to beat them by 28 points. Yes it does EASY!!

So why do I think we win this game by no more then 7 points at best. And more likely win it by 1 to 4 points. Cuz Bill Parcells does not play to win. He only plays not to lose.

Parcells has said he is not changing things either. So that means the 49ers will be in this game until the last second ticks off the clock.

Take a look at these comments.

"I want the quarterback to be a game manager, an efficient game manager," Parcells said. "I think that gives us the best chance to succeed right now with the people we have. And, if we can avoid negative plays, maybe at the expense of being a little conservative, that is what we will do, and we will continue to do that."

He quickly added that Drew Bledsoe has performed admirably in this role since signing with the Cowboys in February.

It has, by no means, been an easy adjustment for Bledsoe. He has played a lot of roles in his 13 seasons as an NFL quarterback, but "bus driver" has never been one of them. He is used to being put in position to win games, not to keep from losing them.

"I think Sean and myself in particular, we are more aggressive," Bledsoe said. "I am always kind of chomping at the bit -- throw the ball downfield -- and Bill has always been the guy to put the brakes on that a little bit and kind of slow us down a little bit."

These comments are exactly why the 9ers game will be a close one. Parcells just does not put teams away.

EDIT - if we should win by more then 10 points my guess is it will be because our Defense ran back some turnovers for TDs and it padded our lead.

I know its tough to stomach having an ex Giants superbowl coach as your coach....but the Tuna took a HORRIFIC Pats team and now they are contenders. The Jets couldn't beat their way out of a paper bag, and he made them contenders. The cow boys were in the toilet and he took them to the playoffs.

He's a hall of fame coach...appreciate him while you have him. You could have someone like Chan Gailey or Spurrier :)

Jimmy Johnson was the same way, gets a 10 pt lead then pounded Emmitt in the 2nd half and was content with a 17-10 win. Not the prettiest but it's effective.

Because Dallas can't beat anyone unless they beat themselves because the Dallas Cowboys do not yet believe they are winners.

Oh they believe they are winners, just not as a team. Meshawn, Peerless, Glenn, the revolving door at qb, and Bledsoe....it's a me first group....

Bledsoe went into San Fran last year and throttled them. In fact and put a 41-7 whoopin on them.

We do the same this year - Blow out.

BP is right.
If you can continue to be +2 in turnovers, keep your QB upright while sacking their QB multiple times, don't throw INTs, and keep the opposing team on their side of the field for the majority of the game...
you will win much more often than not.

Sorry but that Skins victory was a fluke because as BP knows, if that scenario plays itself out 10 more times... it will end in our favor everytime.

The Skins just happened to be the lucky (unlucky) 1 time in whatever number that something flukish happens.

I dont see this game being that close.

I remember a couple of game in 2003 where Parcells had Quincy Carter throw the ball around a little.

Also, Vinny Testeverde definately had the green light when it came to throwing the ball around. He had about 3-4 Games where he threw multiple interceptions in the 3rd and 4th Quarter.

And before you say we were always behind, remember the Cleveland Game? We had the lead all game just about and Vinny was still throwing in the 4th Quarter and had 2-3 Interceptions in the 4th Quarter alone.

Also, remember, Bill Belichek learned alot from Bill Parcells. I forget the game where everyone said the Pats were gonna come out running the ball and Brady ended up throwing it like 5-10 times in the row, but the game escapes me at the moment.

Again, we put up 20+ points on the Chargers and 13 Points is not bad against the Second Ranked in the League last year.

I just understand why people thought we were just gonna go in there and hang about 50 on the Commanders highly rated and talented defense.

I see Bill or Sean trying to punk that 49ers secondary pretty often Sunday.

Thats a crazy statement, at least now it is. There are no "ME" players on this team. When have you heard any one on this team be a "ME" player and last more than a few more days? You can talk past all you want but this is today, not two or more years ago.
These players believe in Parcells and they are great examples for the young guys.
As far as rotating QBs, look no further than J.Jones himself doing everything he can trying to not only get the QB on the cheap but trying to show the world he can convert baseball players into an NFL QB.

Looks like the backfield did the most damage though

But I agree with you, I just dont think their Secondary matches up well against Glenn, Keyshawn, Crayton, Price and Witten.

If Jones gets going, I think this could be over by the 4th Quarter.

Still trolling around these parts eh? And please tell me how Glenn is a Me first Guy?

And with guys like Arrington, Taylor (I dont return the phone calls of my HOF Coach) and Portis, you should stop casting stones.

Oh, how is Arrington looking on the 3rd Team  ?

To be honest with you, I think the worst thing that came out of this lost was that there are alot of Commanders fans hanging around talking smack. Knowing full well they have been viewing this forum for like 2 years and now that they won, finally have the guts to say something.

I cant stand all these 1-22 post Commanders fans...

Bledsoe went no huddle that game 21-32 170 and a TD. And the run pummeled them as the game went on. Bledsoe I don't believe even played the 4th.

We are going to hammer 49ers.

14 points after Bledsoe left the game, 200 yards rushing, 3 INTs, and a fumble...but it was all Bledsoe.

Oh okay, didnt know that.

That would be the "you know what" if we went no huddle with Glenn, Johnson, Crayton, and Price on the field.

I just dont think the Niners have the weapons to stop that kind of attack or bring enough pressure to get to him.

I have not even went and looked up Bledsoe's stats, what, he has like 4 TDs and no INTs. He is playing good IMO, and so far I was wrong for saying he should not have been brought in.

No way this game is close if we open up the offense. I think if we beat the Skins, we go into this game a little cocky, but we lost, so noway that happens.

I think this should be 2 TD win, IMO, but I aint gonna gurantee a win because I am not as stupid as Peterson.

I would agree with you in theory, but I think BP plays this way based on the opponent. He has hinted at opening things up a bit more this week on offense during his press conferences. I think he knows that we outmatch the 49ers and could survive a mistake or turnover because of the aggresiveness.

Bill will have his 21 point lead, remember, he was awfully cautious, but we were facing a decent D that held us to 13 points. The abyssmal frisco D should make the offensive play we had against the Chargers look like the offensive play we had against the Skins. We should run these guys outta the building without having to deal with any tricky 3rd downs that give us a chance to be conservative.

LOL... this from a fan of a team whose self-proclaimed leader told us all how unimportant offseason workouts are...
