  • No containment
  • No gap integrity
  • Hero ball
  • No assignment responsibility
  • Undersized
  • Lack of aggressiveness
  • Lack of accountability

It's not so much the scheme that ails this Cowboys Defense, folks. It was everything posted above, and the tape proved it.

PS: Dan Quinn is as much responsible for creating a Defense with quicker but lighter, smaller, hybrid type of players who struggle or get overwhelmed by bigger and more aggressive Offenses like the Bills, 49ers, Eagles, etc.

This Defense is built to stop the pass and play from ahead. When the offense disappears the Defense has trouble with the run. Simple as that you playing it’s the D fault excuse when the O did nothing

Didn't the Bills take the opening KO down the field for a TD?
Yes.
We got beatdown in all 3 phases, 4 if you include coaching, as our game plan was poor and we never made any adjustments.
The Bills took the opening drive and scored. We actually held them to what should have been a field goal attempt, but a stupid play (by DLaw) gave them a first down and they scored 7.
On the ensuing drive, Dak missed a wide open Cooks that would have tied the game.
Then the D held but another stupid personal foul by Williams on the punt gave the Bills another first down, and they again capitalizedand scored 7. Just like that it was 14-0.
Strikingly similar to the Niners game.
We got behind, couldn't stop the run, did nothing on O and never made any adjustments, = total beatdown.

I’m starting to question Quinn…..agains the Bills and SF, dude made zero adjustments, SF cooked us with constant crossing routes both halves, agains Bills no adjustment to stop the run. That and the belief we can just use undersides LBs and safeties as our run stopping LBs. look at the bengals D coordinator, that dude on MANY occasions has come up with plans or adjustments mid game that work…..Quinn seems to lack that at times.

So, by your metrics, the Cowboys can't win if the defense gives up an opening drive score. Being built to play from ahead and all.
No that’s your spin ,how Did the O do the first 3 quarters 3 points and a lot of 3 and outs. It’s a cumulative effect. I think the game plays out differently if they score a few points in the first half. I’m not absolving the D but we’ve seen this before it’s been this way for 2 years. For the D to play to its strengths the O has to put up points even the announcers remarked on it. It’s a passing points league now so that’s why the the team was built on the premise of the high scoring O and the D attacking the QB with the pass rush, unfortunately it didn’t happen this game. The OP can whine all he wants but this is nothing new against balanced Offense teams.

Translation…they got punched in the mouth early and backed down. No fight, just backed down cowardly. It’s what they do when things don’t go their way early.
Yep.

The good news is that even the better minds in the league…the Shanahans, the McDaniels, etc…can’t figure that out, so we are fine. <eye roll>

I want to be optimistic but it’s tough to think it won’t play out the way it typically does.

Tomorrow will tell us a lot. I actually like the matchup for us on the field, and I like the job MM has done with the offense, but I expect he is going to be schooled tomorrow as Dallas coaches usually are when up against the better ones. I’m about used to it.

But at least we can hear Jerry on the radio. That’s what we all want according to him.

What really stood out to me was our LB play....and not having Kearse in the box. Hooker missing had a real domino effect....because Kearse took over there...playing the single high safety...but still...our LBer...especially Bell couldn't get off blocks.....nor did they try and fill holes...they just played soft the entire game....and let the blocks come to them. I would much rather see us attack the LOS....but instead....Quinn got soft....and quit attacking. That's on him.
