What? Did you even watch the thread where Sounds from the Sidelines was shown? Here. Check it out.

Even the Defense on the sideline was saying they wanted to see the Offense score TDs once in the red zone, no more FGs.

You're simply making excuses at this point because you don't want to see or hear any criticism whatsoever about the lack of scoring TDs in the red zone.

and that is why players play, and coaches coach.

Nope, I think the coach is very smart.

Other team fans wonder the same about Parsons. Great players make plays in this league.

On the second goal line attempt, it does seem as if Rico Dowdle didn't follow his FB behind Right Guard. Had he done so, he likely would have scored. On the other runs, it's questionable but no one picked up CJ Mosly. Had anyone simply blocked him, those plays could have ended up with better results.
The Jets got a good D-Line. It's not easy to get off the blocks and get to the second level. That was a good test for this offense

You're missing the point. Missing blocking assignments are still happening.
You’re 100% right. Settling for 5 field goals has to be questioned. it was the correct choice by MM to settle because that’s what the game situation dictated based on the very topic you brought up.

the problem in this forum is that there are some here that jump all over a thread like this because it doesn’t follow this alleged rule that everything here has to be 100% positive and bringing up a fair point like this invade their Cowboys utopian safe space.

Good Thread, fair points……..at least we know that the coaches aren’t afraid to discuss and fix real issues.

 Unbelievable. What is wrong with you guys? We struggled to score TDs in the red zone during the 2nd half and instead settled for field goals. Wanting to watch tape, recognize mistakes and try to fix them should always be of importance no matter if the Cowboys win a game or not.
I'm sorry, but that's the players and coaches job, not the fans. And trust they are reviewing film and they are going over way more than 3 plays during film study.

And fans cheer or critique. Some simply don't want to hear any critique.
A question I have for you and others is , “ Have we see enough of our RB corp to decide if they are good enough”?………or is the missed blocking assignments to blame for their average performance?

I didnt take part in any of the Zeke vs Pollard debates so I don’t have any skin in the game but I am on record as suggesting that a veteran like Dalvin Cooks would have been a good signing because of Tony’s Injury and to get some veteran depth.

Last season I also whined about our WR corp not having enough depth to give our Qb his best chance to succeed and unfortunately ,it turned out to be true.

Good question.

I believe it's a little of both. We have not seen enough from our RB corps to determine if they are good enough, but our Oline has to do a better job making their blocks, especially in the red zone. These next several games against very good defenses from the Patriots, 49ers, Chargers, Rams and Eagles should be very revealing.

Right, but fans have every right to question mistakes being made today that were also committed last year. This Oline has been struggling all summer during training camp and preseason.

And they did score a td. That's when the game was still close, they wanted another td so they can go Rush the Qb. And they got what they wished for.

They didn't have a long sustained drive every possession (that's rare), but they did have 389 yards of offense, 5 drives that lasted 12 plays or more, and dominated time of possession, so I don't think tit's fair to say they had a problem moving the ball.

They did have a problem scoring TD's once in the red zone though, and that was a bit frustrating.

I suspect a lot had to do with ultra conservative play calling in the red zone based on the defense being dominant, and wanting to avoid mistakes that would undermine what the defense was doing. I get that to a point, but it seemed a bit much. Despite the dominance, the score wasn't out of reach until the 4th quarter.

Why the Cowboys struggled to score or move the ball against Jets at times

...because no one bothered to block the Jets' stud MLB CJ Mosly. That's why.

:banghead:

Moving forward, I hope McCarthy, Schottenheimer and Solari figure it out and make sure to address making sure to block an opposing team's top tackling LB.

You’re probably going to get slammed, but most of us understand your points

Uhm, just like America's Cowboy exploded everytime someone mentioned Dak? He's a f****** hypocrite. By the way, shall I tell him to leave because he's a hater?

On the topic itself I agree with him (and you) though. A good team will always want to improve things, no matter how often they win and how good the game went. The only exception is winning the Superbowl. Then it's partying nonstop until training camp. But I bet even then some poor assistant coach has to analyze the game and show it to the players a couple of months later.

I’m not sure if the FB blocked the wrong guy or RB cut it up too soon. But that’s something that should improve over the season. Luepke is learning to lead block, and Dowdle is still raw as a RB
I will say I like the way Dowdle runs. He’s quick and strong

I'm sure there is a Jet fan post with the exact same info, except his refers to Parsons. And he has a better point, after scoring only 10 points.
