Why the Parsons pick didn’t matter

You have to ask yourself why there is so much negativity in the largest fanbase in the league? There is an obvious reason. I think it is asking for a little much for fans to see nothing but butterflies and rainbows while wearing rose-colored glasses. 25+ years of being a fan of a soft, losing team tends to bring out the worst in the fanbase.

Every fanbase has negative people, but when you try turning even major positives into negatives it just becomes ridiculous.

I totally get the concerns on OL, WR, coaching staff, backup QB, etc. I'm of the mindset that it's hard to see how we got better on paper, but will wait to see the product on the field. Bottom line this was a playoff team last year with some young talented players emerging. I'm going to be optimistic we'll be in the mix, but we're going to have to get a lift from players that become pleasant surprises to make it happen. Last year I wasn't sure if we did enough to address safety, then here comes Kearse out of no where. I'm sure a lot of us didn't see Parsons season coming either.

It doesn’t matter if drafted Parsons who is obviously a superstar in the making….we got lucky Surtain was gone

It doesn’t matter because the Jones’s have zero strategy on building a team besides being cheap

What kind of team are we?….a running team?…a passing team!…a strong defense team?….who knows because it changes yearly with the same results

One draft pick we lucked into won’t change anything….we desperately need a team direction and legitimate GM

I hear what your saying . The way things are playing out this year I’m exited our D can play field position and give the offense as much help as possible with ball hawking turnovers . Actually I’m in the minority I like Mahers ability to kick longer field goals when the offense stalls , if he’s the kicker .

And I’m greedy I want to be able to take clock off the game and run whenever wherever . That’s why I thought Malik Davis could give Dallas three fresh backs I see none of that upside in Dowdle . And keeping Houston over Brandon Smith is incredible I don’t know who’s making these calls.

It's one thing to see rainbows and expect a superbowl. On the other end of the spectrum is the guy who states NOTHING matters.

Surely there is a middle ground

The Cowboys are one of the best drafting teams in the league. Parsons may be the best player in the league. You need more brain cells. The Cowboys are a good team.

The measure of a good team is meaningful wins - good teams win playoff games.

the only cowboy players since well u know, that have SB rings now, are the ones that went to other teams for misc reasons.'
All the guys who stayed or were kept have no rings, not even nfc champ rings.

But I agree, parsons pick might not matter with the jones boys running the show./

What? I mean I see you, but man. I don't disagree with your assessment of needing a GM, but otherwise we have a pretty good track record of drafting. We just suck at timing. Has been the case for many years now. We're consistently baller on one side or the other. This is the closest to balance we've had in a while. At this point I'm giving the edge to defense.

I feel bad that a once in a lifetime player has to play here because he's clearly not okay with mediocrity and that's what he's going to get. He'll make a lot of money, be inducted into the Hall of fame, but he won't win anything. He'll be left with an empty feeling after he retires like so many have post 1996.
This pretty much says it all. It’s mind blowing the amount of talent that has been wasted here over the past 27 years.

You are spot on but people will still give you crap.
We have a 40 million dollar QB in his prime, yet we don't upgrade the WR position.
Our OL is worse than last year. Losing Collins whatever you think of him, he was a very good RT.
Let Gregory leave which I am ok with but did not replace his pass rush skills

I think the question is what is the plan? It is a fair question to ask after 27 years of no championship game appearances.
Your reply just cant be stop crying and root for your team.

I do give this ownership group some credit.
Lamb, Parsons Diggs, Dak, Pollard, Team does have an above average draft record but there is no strategy and of course the culture of hoopla vs culture of winning.
You bring in a coach like Shanahan or McVay I guarantee we are in a championship game within 3 years even if they overhaul the roster from top to bottom.

I think we can all agree that we were fortunate to draft Parsons given what he did in his rookie season and can only hope that his career path remains at the level or more. We all get frustrated mainly given the long absence since playoff glory and the clear 'target' if you will is Jerry Jones & Co. seeing as how he has been the one driving the bus. There is a lot of luck involved in building a team but this team certainly needs to figure things out before the careers of Dak, Zeke, Lamb, Parsons, Diggs, etc. are wasted.
