Why this game scares me.

Good post. Overconfidence, whether it is from the team or the fans is always scary. It is evidence of a potential letdown. I think that, more than anything else, derailed 2007. Other things played a part, but I honestly think heads were so swollen at how good they were, that they took their eyes off the prize and paid the price.

Any given Sunday. No way the Raiders beat the Eagles again, but they don't play them again. The Eagles were stupid. I don't want this team to be.

If we run the ball effectively, the way we capable of running the ball, we should win. If we get too pass crazy, we're setting ourselves up for potential failure or let down. That's just my .02$ about the game.

Every game we play scares me, we are such a hot and cold type of team.

If this team doesn't have the heart to capitalize on last weeks big win and beat a sorry Seattle team then they aren't a serious contender anyway. This is the kind of game good teams just don't lose. Not when you're a 10 point fav at home.
Could not agree more. IMHO we'll know how prepared for the "next step" this team really is by how well they play this game. If they play well and hard and dominate (as they should barring injury) then I think they are over that "we just have to step on the field to win against punks like this" attitude and realize that you really have to work hard each week to get to the top.

If instead it's like the Rams game last year, then look for more of the same results as we had last year...

Theebs, we are just about always on the same wavelength. I felt the exact same way about the Falcons game last week as you did and this week is no different. I honestly think this week is going to tell us just as much about our Dallas Cowboys as last week did, if not more. Couple these 2 games with next weeks game against the Eagles and we will have a very good understanding of what this team is about. Ultimately I think this game is going to be closer than the experts see it, but I do believe Dallas will post a W on the win column by the end of the game. If Dallas can come out and dominate this game, it will prove a lot to me. A lot of people are also underestimating or even completely disregarding the fact that Seattle has had 2 weeks to prepare for this game, that is huge.

we just need to take what the defense gives us.

if they want to put 8 in the box then we can pass all day and should.

this offensive team is good enough to take what the defense gives them but not good enough to simply force things against the odds.

read the defense, make the plays, easy win.

throw in carlson and burleson and they have enough to move the ball and score if givent the time.

I know this team is prone to major letdowns but carlson, tj and burleson are hardly scary.

Hasselbeck has been pretty bad since Holmgren retired and he is hurt again. A rib injury and solid pass rush means the CBs can sit on routes.

I'd say this is probably the easiest game on the schedule for us.

It is the NFL so anything can happen but the specific match ups just really lean our way this week.

Hassleback has played 3 games this year. They are 2-1 in those games.

now if ratliff is out that will affect our pass rush.

2003 was a pretty good year. The Cowboys had acquired a credible coach, some promising players, and they overachieved, finishing 10-6, somehow making it into the playoffs. I felt good about that season, even after the playoff loss. Generally, things were looking up.

Since then, IMO, there has been a whole lot of disappointment. Either very disappointing seasons that did not lead to the playoffs or good to very good regular seasons that led to extremely disappointing playoff losses.

It makes sense that many fans would feel a little gunshy about this team -- perhaps especially now that things are beginning to look promising again. In recent years, this team has shown a knack for not living up to its promise.

As for me, I'm not scared about this weekend. I'm hopeful. I'm thinking that some of the younger players (Jenkins, Choice, F. Jones, Spencer), Austin, and the new free agent vets can help this team get beyond its neurotic self-defeating ways. And maybe Garrett's feel for the game will continue to improve as well.

I respect Hasselbeck and their team.

But I am counting on our team to not overlook anyone at this point. Call me a fool. It's what I believe after this team clawed back in KC and started to gel vs the Falcons.

I'm not going to get caught up in how much we win by. Rather, I'm just looking for this team to keep taking steps forward.

No its not because its halloween weekend!

Its because, the same things that made me positive about last weeks game from the atlanta perspective seem to be happening here.

Last week the media and the fans of the falcons acted like they would waltz in beat Dallas and get ready for the saints. Dallas was an afterthought. As soon as that attitude creeps in to the fans and the media there is a good chance the team gets a little of it too.

Last week it was on full display in atlanta and it is on full display here this week. Dallas is just going to blow seattle out and get ready for 44-6.

The fans of this team go from fire everyone and play kitna to how much we are going to win the superbowl by. Its ridiculous.

I think if hassleback is in decent enough shape that the passing offense of seattle worries me as much as atlantas. They are good outside and carlson is an outstanding tight end. Much like atlanta they dont get much from the running game, but it only takes one or two plays to pop a running game and change the mindset.

People keep referring to last years game on thanksgiving. Well, just for reference because I havent heard anyone talk about this, the seahawks last year played the Commanders in seattle the sunday before thanksgiving. It was a very physical game, the hawks had injuries already and they now had two days to get ready for another physical football game. That was a bad spot for seattle.

So with them having a bye and two weeks to prepare they will at least be more ready to play physically and mentally. I dont think that much of mora jr, but two weeks to prepare is two weeks.

I absolutely hate the tone of the fans and the media here this week. Bradie james said we are going to have to win ugly most of the year and I believe that is true. I dont think there are to many blowouts on the horizon.

I hope we do blow them out, but I dont see that.

I expect this to be the worst home crowd of the season. Dallas fans get to noon games late because of church, there are a ton of tickets available for this game which means people are bailing on this game. That means the atmosphere for this game will be very poor. So if we get behind 7 or 10 points it will be like a high school library in there.

So go ahead and tell me how they are hurt and this and that. This is the nfl, I expect it to be a tough game and I am fearing I may be the only one. I hope I am wrong on all accounts.
Well, with Ratliff out, Julius Jones just might have a big game.

Very well said. I'm with ya.

I don't think the team is going to be overconfident. I don't think Tony will be, Roy Williams won't be, Witten & the RBs won't be (Choice has to be dying for an opportunity to have a big game) and former seahawk Hamlin won't be overconfident. Even if Miles Austin and Ware are overconfident, the team won't lose. And whether fans and media is overconfident doesn't have any impact on the game.

I think the X factor for not over looking them is the 2006 wildcard game. I would want to hang 38 on them every time I played them and destroy them on defense and special teams.

NO MERCY!

Isn't that true for every Cowboy game?

A kid just came up to the door dressed like a rat. That's all I'm worried about tomorrow..not having our rat in uniform.

No its not because its halloween weekend!***(MAM: I'm working in the basement of a television station where people have heard and seen weird things. I'm not scared either. Hahhahaa.)

Its because, the same things that made me positive about last weeks game from the atlanta perspective seem to be happening here.

Last week the media and the fans of the falcons acted like they would waltz in beat Dallas and get ready for the saints. Dallas was an afterthought. As soon as that attitude creeps in to the fans and the media there is a good chance the team gets a little of it too.***(MAM: That's true to some extent. I guess this is when we'll find out if it's creeped in to our team or not. I hope not. But did you hear Norm Hitzges after the game? He was griping and complaining. I never heard anything like it. Have the mediots really let the Cowboys off the hook this week?)

Last week it was on full display in atlanta and it is on full display here this week. Dallas is just going to blow seattle out and get ready for 44-6.***(MAM: 44-6 for them or for us? I don't think we're going to blow them out. I did predict 28-7 on my show, but I should have added a couple more field goals. I think we'll have a 10 point cushion the whole game.)

The fans of this team go from fire everyone and play kitna to how much we are going to win the superbowl by. Its ridiculous.***(MAM: No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of Cowboys fans.)

I think if hassleback is in decent enough shape that the passing offense of seattle worries me as much as atlantas. They are good outside and carlson is an outstanding tight end.***(MAM: Don't forget about T.J. Houshmanzadeh. I think he was the best receiver in Cincinnati.) Much like atlanta they dont get much from the running game, but it only takes one or two plays to pop a running game and change the mindset.***(MAM: The Falcons sure got a lot from Snelling, the fullback. That was so frustrating. We were shutting down Turner, but they handed it to Snelling and he was getting them some yards.)

That was a bad spot for seattle.***(MAM: That's very true.)

So with them having a bye and two weeks to prepare they will at least be more ready to play physically and mentally. I dont think that much of mora jr, but two weeks to prepare is two weeks.***(MAM: Jim Mora, Jr. teams are 3-1 coming off of byes, including the playoffs. The lone loss came to the Giants in 2006, Mora, Jr.'s last year to coach. Yeah, it could be dangerous, but you have to consider the commonality between last year and this year: no left tackle. Yes, the Seahawks are deficient at left tackle, much like they were last year when they played a dinged Walter Jones at left tackle. Ware got three sacks in addition to all the other pressures. That could be the key to the game, unless they do three-step drops and quick outs.)

I absolutely hate the tone of the fans and the media here this week.***(MAM: What media are you looking at? From what I've seen, the curmudgeons like Randy "Joey" Galloway, who writes articles as well as he could catch balls, are all in a tiffy over "Victory Monday." Who's over-glorifying this team?) Bradie james said we are going to have to win ugly most of the year and I believe that is true. I dont think there are to many blowouts on the horizon.***(MAM: I don't either, thus is the plight of teams that play ball control offense and force few turnovers.)

I hope we do blow them out, but I dont see that.***(MAM: It all depends on what a blowout is. If we are beating them 21-7 and then get a picksix on their final drive for 28-7, that's not as big of a blowout as putting down 28 on them in the first quarter, sitting on the lead, and then letting their backups get a touchdown at the end.)

I expect this to be the worst home crowd of the season.***(MAM: Yeah, I'm seeing tons of tickets to this game.) Dallas fans get to noon games late because of church, there are a ton of tickets available for this game which means people are bailing on this game. That means the atmosphere for this game will be very poor. So if we get behind 7 or 10 points it will be like a high school library in there.***(MAM: Maybe I should have bought a ticket and then gone there to do my homework.)

So go ahead and tell me how they are hurt and this and that. This is the nfl, I expect it to be a tough game and I am fearing I may be the only one. I hope I am wrong on all accounts.***(MAM: I think your paragraph about hoping that we blow them out, but you just don't see it happening is closer to the truth than the people who predict a blowout or people who think they'll beat us.)

Good point... This is a trap game, Dallas has shown in the past to play down to the competition, however Seattle can beat Dallas if that happens. I hope they come out with the right amount of focus and intensity it will take to win.

I disagree with being overconfident.

Romo needed those two games to get his swagger back and now he's found a new target in Austin he can trust. If Anything this will be a building stone for the team and Romo.

They will be ready to play dont worry guys.
