Why wait until January?

First of all Happy Thanksgiving to you all! From Toronto.

This is a topic that has been beaten to death, however I have some insight that may be a little different.

I am an avid hockey fan. I have watched the Maple Leafs struggle under Babcock all year this year and in the playoffs last season. He was let go a week ago and the team is undefeated under the new coach. Now I know hockey and football are different sports obviously. But the reason Babcock was let go is because the players werent responding to his "old school" methods anymore. Sound familiar?

I believe with the right coaching change. Someone that can instill some new "modern" values and ideas into this team we could make a run. The days of lining up and beating the man in front of you are over and are simply archaic. This team has too much talent to be wasting on 1990's football philosophies. I say let go of the red headed genius. Promote Richard, give Kellen Moore full rein on the offense and see what we got. If it doesnt work. We clean house and bring in Rhule, Meyer, or Riley and bring this team and its talent into the 21st century.

I love what I see in Moore so far and I like Richard a lot - just not sure if he is HC material - I would hate to lose either after this season if the team fails - a new HC likely does bring in his own guys and that means these two would be gone

I am torn, but I really don't see Jones firing clappy unless Buffalo stampedes over the Cowboys today

I would love to see Riley as HC with Moore OC and Richard DC and decide what other coaches stay....

Unless they beat Buffalo and the Bears, I would promote Richard to interim next Friday and start contacting Urban Meyer, Lincoln Riley, etc behind the scenes.

Fired Wade mid season because the players quit playing AND we were out of the playoff race. In his speech Jones even told the players that they were the reason he had to fire Wade.

As long as we are in the playoff hunt Garrett isn’t getting fired. Plus Jones doesn’t have to fire him at all, he just doesn’t have to resign him an extension.

id do it publically. no need to hide it. everyone should know what the deal is.

I would have no problem with Richard getting a 4 game tryout but with Jerry I don't think an inexperienced head coach works. You need somebody with some clout to make the owner respect him.

Never coached in the NFL and is young. Hence the assistant head coach tag. Stay for 2 years under Urban. Urban retires from Coaching. Riley is ready. I know its fantasy but its a good one lol

We've been "in the hunt" for all but 2 of the seasons of the Reign of the Red Menace. If that's good enough, we may as well stick with Garrett.

If that's not good enough, dump him now. We'd be instantly better at the game tomorrow if Garrett were gone. He's a liability on gameday.

I dont. He has won with 3 different QBs and turned Hurts into a freaking Heisman candidate. There are people that just know how to win.

I think reguardless Garrett is here till the end of the season, with his contract up Jerry likely won't fire him during the remainder. I would be on board with Richard being interim and giving Moore total offense control, at this point it couldn't hurt what is already likely but I agree that who ever is HC next year likely brings there own guys in to coordinate with them.

either a coach flops here, and hes golden, or he succeeds and is shown the door.

I'm not sure of the logistics, but I don't see why Jerry can't start interviewing coaches now. Garrett's contract is up, so he's really in no different boat than an interim coach would be at a place like Washington. If you are talking about trying to salvage the season (does anyone really think this team can win in the playoffs when they can't beat a team with a winning record?), that's one thing. Jerry doesn't have to fire Garrett to start moving on. Everybody with a pulse knows he's just here for 5 more games.

You aren't going to get a coach fired when you have the lead in the division....

As bad as we want Jason gone, it could always get much worse with a change. He DOES have us in a position to win the East and anything can happen in the playoffs. We're not the Commanders or Giants and only have to beat out the Eagles.

It's best to just wait until the end of our season.

I was just suggesting it because I saw it change the entire dynamic of my hockey team. Coach couldnt relate to the younger players. He had them playing an outdated style which is very similar to us.

Honestly I would rather just wait and have everything a cleanslate after the season. I don’t want what ever new direction we are going in involved with this mess.
