Why wait until January?

I was just suggesting it because I saw it change the entire dynamic of my hockey team. Coach couldnt relate to the younger players. He had them playing an outdated style which is very similar to us.

It can have the opposite effect as well, it doesn't always light a fire.

It's too late in the season and the position we are in just doesn't make sense to fire the HC. None of us like Garrett much, but as I said, once you get into the playoffs anything can happen and Garrett does, at the very least, have us in position to make it. As long as he has that lead on the Eagles, he's staying the HC until the end of our season.

So keep him? To get kicked out first round?

First of all Happy Thanksgiving to you all! From Toronto.

This is a topic that has been beaten to death, however I have some insight that may be a little different.

I am an avid hockey fan. I have watched the Maple Leafs struggle under Babcock all year this year and in the playoffs last season. He was let go a week ago and the team is undefeated under the new coach. Now I know hockey and football are different sports obviously. But the reason Babcock was let go is because the players werent responding to his "old school" methods anymore. Sound familiar?

I believe with the right coaching change. Someone that can instill some new "modern" values and ideas into this team we could make a run. The days of lining up and beating the man in front of you are over and are simply archaic. This team has too much talent to be wasting on 1990's football philosophies. I say let go of the red headed genius. Promote Richard, give Kellen Moore full rein on the offense and see what we got. If it doesnt work. We clean house and bring in Rhule, Meyer, or Riley and bring this team and its talent into the 21st century.

What say you zoners?
I agree....I'm hoping for a really black Friday for Jason.

A coaching change now would give us the change so many want. Suspense over, moving on.

But I think that would signal we give up the rest of the year. A lot at play right now and you can read a lot into any decision I suppose.

I just want to see something from this team. Too much talent to be 6-5 and that is a straight indictment on the coaching.

I'm not sure of the logistics, but I don't see why Jerry can't start interviewing coaches now. Garrett's contract is up, so he's really in no different boat than an interim coach would be at a place like Washington. If you are talking about trying to salvage the season (does anyone really think this team can win in the playoffs when they can't beat a team with a winning record?), that's one thing. Jerry doesn't have to fire Garrett to start moving on. Everybody with a pulse knows he's just here for 5 more games.

It would be unprofessional and disrespectful if Jerry interviewed coaches now. That sends a message to the players, as to why even care. Many will question if they will be there next season. Therefore will play not to get injured.
It just sends a bad message all the way around. Especially in the middle of trying and a good chance to win the division.

However is there a possibility he put out feelers to see interest, such as Meyer. It would be between Jerry and Urban and his agent to keep it quiet.
But even at that still way too early. So I doubt anything has happened behind the scenes other than Jerry and Stephen talking about it.

You want your team to at least make the playoffs, again, Garrett has us in that position. You don't want to toss that away by a patchwork coaching change this late in the season. It simply doesn't make sense. There is no guarantee a Richard or a Moore would improve, they have no HC experience, and Marinelli doesn't exactly have a good record....

I don't want someone on the current to staff to get the full time gig based off being interim head coach for about a month, then keeping most of the assistants intact.

I want a new head coach who picks his own staff. That probably won't happen, though. This is Jerry's world.

Jerry unprofessional?

Blasphemer!

I agree 100%. I believe we can make a run if we dump Garrett!! If we don’t owell, we know we are not making a long playoff run with Garrett.

Honestly I would rather just wait and have everything a cleanslate after the season. I don’t want what ever new direction we are going in involved with this mess.
Why waste the rest of this season? We have the talent to make a run. If this in season experiment does not work we can clean house during the off season.

I can't wait to see Garrett get his extension , this board will be so entertaining .

We've been "in the hunt" for all but 2 of the seasons of the Reign of the Red Menace. If that's good enough, we may as well stick with Garrett.

If that's not good enough, dump him now. We'd be instantly better at the game tomorrow if Garrett were gone. He's a liability on gameday.
Being in the hunt every other year is not good enough. Also with Garrett we are never really in the hunt.

well I’m of the opinion that firing Garret and letting Richard or who ever isn’t going to be better but maybe worse.
