It's the off-season. It's not like there's much else out there to talk about :)

Age: If Jerry released Owens b/c he was serious about making this a younger team, I could support that. But signing a 33 year old Brookings and (if you believe the speculation) considering a 32year old Torry Holt and keeping a 33year old Ellis on the roster and bringing in a 36 year old Jon Kitna... well, I don't see a committment to youth there.

You also don't see 3 draft picks and $40M already committed to the replacements of those players. Roy is the commitment to youth, as well as Miles to a lesser degree.

Holt if he came, and I doubt he does, would be a cheap stop gap and mentor anyway. He is a FAR more technically proficient WR and a class guy - much better to be a role model for our younger guys than TO.

Philosophy: I guess Terrell Owens didn't make it clear enough that all he wants to do is win win win. He's never come out and said something like "if losing a football game is the worst thing that ever happens to me...". There has never been talk about Owens having poor practice habits. So this can't be it...
He also made it clear that "winning" meant throwing him the ball, as often as humanly possible. Even when we won a game, he would complain about not getting it, which meant that it wasn't just winning, it was winning with him getting the credit and the spotlight.

Price Tag: It's the only real logical reason left... Jerry better hope people buy up those Roy11, Witten and Romo jerseys next season :)

That played a part probably, especiallly with Ware's contract negotiations going on, but if that is truly the sole reason he was cut than its stupid, there is not much savings with TO gone. See one and two above.

The simple fact is T.O., with or w/o any of his own doing, is still a lockerroom cancer. It's bigger than he is now. Even if he is on his best behavior, a team still has to tolerate the circus that follows him relentlessly. It wears on a team's chemistry and tugs at the seams of the team atmosphere, constantly. It (he) becomes the one and only story of a football team and Owens is not the best candidate to handle that type of pressure 24/7.
When you add that to the fact that he no longer has the reliable hands he once did and is an old player impeding the development of any future youth at the position... it's a wise choice to cut your losses and move on.

Jerry Jones is smart enough to know that regardless of whatever, it is always good business to portray any "parting of ways" as a positive experience and say nothing but good things about the relationship in order to prevent any future conflict and to move forward as quickly and smoothly as possible.

That's it. No more. No less.

No...there is one more thing!

TO is just to damn handsome to be around all those ugly Cowboy players...plain and simple!

The only thing about Team that TO believed in was then M and E. It was always me first with him. Yes, he was a good teammate in the locker room but he isn't a team player, it was always me then the team.

There's not one bit of doubt in my mind that that is 100% accurate!

Problem I have is that every team has at least a handful of guys like this.

Some would call them paycheck players. They often have very good to great talent which is why they are tolerated.

I can assure you the Cowboys still have a few.

As paycheck players go, you can do worse than TO.

Perfect comparable that comes to mind is J. Galloway. The ultimate paycheck guy.
This guy did the exact min required by ever team he played for. Loads of talent and never did anything extra to improve. Also displayed a complete indifference to the games outcome.

He was cut cause it was what needed to happen and Roy was brought here, and given the money he was, cause he was supposed to be the future #1 option at WR. Well the future is now.

Dont listen to what Jerry says, TO was cut because he is an absolute bunghole who was negatively influencing team chemistry. If TO got his grown man on, shut his mouth and caught the damn football, we wouldnt be having these conversations.
