A ton of QB pressures? I don't recall more than four or five over the course of the season.

DFWJC;3090155Tony was a disaster in those loses to Denver and NYG. Some of those throws in Denver the worst of his career. Luckily said:
I agree. He was just flat inaccurate. And then there were those strange times he and the receiver were on different pages.

.

After 7 games Spencer had 11 pressures, 4 tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery. I'm not sure what his numbers were for the last two games, but i assume he is about 14-16 pressures by now.

Ive never liked the guy but Spencers playing well.
Spencer has as many QB pressures as Ware (or close to it). That can disrupt things quite a bit too.

Turnovers, specifically Romo turnovers (something he's controlled this season), has hurt Dallas vs Denver givingup the ball deep in their territory and vs Green Bay at the goalline, costing Dallas 3-7pts. The other turnover in that game, the fumble, crappy officiating aside, gave GB the ball deep in Dallas territory. Vs NYG Romo had 2INTs in DAL territory that set up short fields for the Giants.

That there are why we lost those games.

:laugh2: yeah that elite offense that keeps sputtering at the end of the season

The offense was good before Garrett as well.

we were up 10-0 at Denver and if Anthony Spencer could catch a football we probably would've won. the Giants beat us cause we turned the ball over 4 times none of which were forced. we're also the only team with a winning record that the giants have beat.

Every team can play "if only" about every loss.

The Giants outplayed us in the opener and are one of the best in the NFC (I still say). They will be in playoff contention.

8. Jason Garrett

We just might get what some of you fans want and Garrett will be gone...just like Sean Payton and Todd Haley.

And we could sink right back to the bottom of the pack--which is where we were virtually every year before Garrett came around.

Be careful what you wish for. Karma can be a killer.

People get so caught up on issues that aren't even issues whenever this team loses.

Just to first remind everyone: We are in first place in our division and sit with a 6-3 record. But for the obsessive perfectionists (which boards like this seem to attract) here is the end-all list why we lost those games.

I'd say if you look at this and all other boards, they are filled with people who think the opposite of your perfectionist comment.

1. Our offense didn't play well enough against the 1st, 4th and 6th ranked defenses in a 32 team league. It sure came close two out of three times.

Could have won all three. The Packer's game was an over-all offensive bust. The Broncos game was a good defensive game plan and inaccuracy by Romo. The Giants game was offensive turnovers, even though some will argue that point. We should have embarrassed the Giants.

2. We lost two roadies in the toughest venues in the league: Lambeau and Mile High. We lost a home game that we were destined to lose in a stadium opener. (check history on this one)

History doesn't account for our offense playing poorly. Their defense played well, but garrett went away from what ultimately would win, which was running the ball and not giving them the shotgun and a predictable offense. Nor does history cause a team to lose a game anymore than a black cat causes bad luck or a rainbow has a pot of gold at the end.

3. Roy Williams has been horrible and Spencer has 0 sacks. Both HUUUUGE.

And yet we still have other players that aren't stepping up.

4. Ware has been a step off (quite literally, playing hurt)

I buy this, early after the injury. Not now.

5. Tony was off in game 1 and threw everything high in the thin air in Denver

Tony has been off all season save for the Atlanta game. He has been behind, over, too far in front of receivers most of the year.

Now to the BIGGIES:
6 We are a cumulative -3 in turnovers

See above.

7 We are the 7th most penalized team in the NFL

Undisciplined team. Jerry, Wade, and Garrett, come on down!

I'd say considering all this --- Wade and Garrett BOTH get at least B+ grades to have this team at 6-3. As for which you want to "blame" most for this amazing success-----flip a coin.

Amazing success? Beating teams we should doesn't get a pass with me.

Poor game planning by Garrett and weak leadership by Phillips married with meddlesome ownership in Jerry is a recipe for what we get.

Good enough to tease, but not built to please.

As some of you know, I've been keeping track of stupid mistakes over the course of the season. I very roughly base this on giveaways and penalties. The formula is 6 x giveaways + # of penalties. See this thread for details: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168922.

I bring it up in here because Dallas' average stupid mistake rating in their losses is 25 and 13.3 in their wins. These two things together may have a big effect.

NFL teams pass 55-65% of their plays. 2/3 of the yardage, tvs and first downs are through the air. The games are decided in the last two minutes when teams pass virtually EVERY down.

Stopping the pass is 3 times more important than stopping the run.

I'll give Spencer credit for being good in covering receivers. Sooner or later you have to get pressure from an OLB. He's been woeful in that dept.

Since when does pressure only equal a sack?
