Why we've lost three games

People get so caught up on issues that aren't even issues whenever this team loses.

Just to first remind everyone: We are in first place in our division and sit with a 6-3 record. But for the obsessive perfectionists (which boards like this seem to attract) here is the end-all list why we lost those games.

1. Our offense didn't play well enough against the 1st, 4th and 6th ranked defenses in a 32 team league. It sure came close two out of three times.

2. We lost two roadies in the toughest venues in the league: Lambeau and Mile High. We lost a home game that we were destined to lose in a stadium opener. (check history on this one)

3. Roy Williams has been horrible and Spencer has 0 sacks. Both HUUUUGE.

4. Ware has been a step off (quite literally, playing hurt)

5. Tony was off in game 1 and threw everything high in the thin air in Denver

Now to the BIGGIES:
6 We are a cumulative -3 in turnovers
7 We are the 7th most penalized team in the NFL

I'd say considering all this --- Wade and Garrett BOTH get at least B+ grades to have this team at 6-3. As for which you want to "blame" most for this amazing success-----flip a coin.

People get upset b/c its 3 teams that we are better than. Not only that, Every game Red Head got extremetly pass happy. Jason Garret does not get a B+ because miles went crazy a few weeks breaking tackles. We pass to much, felix does not touch the ball enough, and we only run that fake pass hand off when we do run.

Yeah we lead the NFC East but we should be 8 and 1 at the very worst....Now the eagles (always play better in the second half) and the Giants are still in this thing. We only have one division win which makes every division game (almost) must wins.

We're the third most penalized team in the NFL. Both the top 10 penalized and the bottom 10 penalized have an undefeated team.

Moreover, the 10 most penalized teams have 6 winning records while the 10 fewest have 5 winning records. Considering the match-ups this weekend, the 10 fewest penalized teams could end up with only 3 teams with a winning record.

The 10 fewest also have amongst them Oakland, Tampa Bay, and St. Louis.

Just something to keep in mind.

Sometimes penalties mean you're playing harder, a-la some of the "hustle" penalties.

To the OP: As for Spencer having no sacks, he's been more than just good against the run and in pass coverage, with I would say is more "Huuuuuge" than not having a sack yet. He will get his - remember he's only in his first year as a full-time starter.

What your saying is we don't play good against TOP RANKED defenses. But what happens when the playoffs roll around and most of those teams are all top ranked? If Garret doesn't change what hes doing we will go one and done in the playoffs. That's if we even make it.

Ive never liked the guy but Spencers playing well.

I've never disliked the guy, but he's only doing some things well.

Geesh, a 3-4 OLB without a sack 9 games into the season....that will not get it done. Period. I don't see how people can remotely defend it. He's not a rookie either.

Butler: 20 plays(?)...3 sacks
Spencer: 500+ plays... 0 sacks

We have to play better against the top ranked defenses or we'll never sniff a Super Bowl. But look. We scored over 20 pts against NY. Austin and Romo on the same page in Denver and we win that game.

You are flat wrong about Garrett. If he is pressured to change we will stop being the elite offense we've been since he arrived.

Want to go back to the offense we were in the ten seasons before he arrived?

NFL teams pass 55-65% of their plays. 2/3 of the yardage, tvs and first downs are through the air. The games are decided in the last two minutes when teams pass virtually EVERY down.

Stopping the pass is 3 times more important than stopping the run.

I'll give Spencer credit for being good in covering receivers. Sooner or later you have to get pressure from an OLB. He's been woeful in that dept.

I think Spencer has been getting credited with plenty of "QB pressures",he just has been a tad slow or he would have a few sacks.I do think Spencer needs to show that he can "seal the deal" in the last half of the season. If he can't get the job done on 3rd. down they need to go in another direction.

We lost game 1 because Tony turned the ball over 3 times. We lost games 2 and 3 because the offense failed to show up after the first drive. This has been a common theme for this team for years now. See Eagles game end of 07, Eagles game end of 08, etc. For not figuring out why this happens, the coaching staff gets a D in my book. Oh, and for not figuring out why his defense struggles on 3rd and long Wade gets an F.

He's done everything that's been asked of him and more besides get a sack. He leads the team in QB pressures.
This team isn't lacking sacks so there's no point in holding that stat against him Spencer has been playing well, really well. Apart from not catching the INT in the Denver game there's really not much bad you can say about him.
He's around the ball all the time and he's been getting better every game, re-watch the GB game he was our best defensive player in that game by far

Where do you get that exactly? The Broncos were undefeated the first 6 or 7 games. The Giants won their first five. Green Bay is dominant at home.

People who think we should win every game lack maturity and are doomed to be frustrated.

we were up 10-0 at Denver and if Anthony Spencer could catch a football we probably would've won. the Giants beat us cause we turned the ball over 4 times none of which were forced. we're also the only team with a winning record that the giants have beat.

There's not a huge difference between heavy pressure and a sack. Most DC's will tell you sacks are way overrated...though i would like to have as many as possible. :) Bottom line is that Spencer has a ton of QB pressures and is doing very well in the other facets of him game.

Tony was a disaster in those loses to Denver and NYG. Some of those throws in Denver the worst of his career. Luckily, that is not the norm for him.

Unquestionably, the Cowboys are in good position in terms of playoff seeding. However, that doesn't absolve them from all criticism, especially after a near-shut out loss. Even Wade Philips has conceded the offense was too predictable against Green Bay. Dom Capers has offered a similar assessment.

For the most part, the Cowboys have played well this season, but they need to improve in certain areas if they want to contend against the top teams in the NFC. Naturally, fans are going to expound upon those areas.

There's little point in calling out anyone who is critical of the team.
