Why do people keep mocking Hurst or any other 3 techniques early in the draft? FYI, we have two (2) very good 3 techniques in Irvin and Collins . If anything we need a true 1 technique . Dall as will not nor should they draft Hurst.

A few reasons...

1. Cowboys wanted Aaron Donald and Hurst is a poor man's version of Donald.
2. Marinelli is revered by many so the fact that his defense is not dominant must because of some other factor, in this case, not enough interior pass rush
3. Current braintrust likes Power5/big school guys
4. the 19th pick is no man's land
5. People mistakenly think Maliek Collins is an adequate fill-in at 1Tech.

It's obvious the D1 must be addressed It wont be the 1st rd but I hope soon
Not sure why 19th is no man's land I'm liking it

Doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me honestly. Especially considering they have a very disruptive 3Tech playing out of position because they have an extremely disruptive 3 Tech playing there

3-Tech is a cornerstone position. If you think Hurst will be a great one you should take him.

Irving can play DE. Collins has not proven enough to not take a player because we have Collins.

Even if we took Hurst I would want a 1 tech in FA or later in the draft.

Irving and Collins should though.

That is if the Cowboys still even want Irving.
If they are keeping Irving that forces Collins to 1T. And we should have seen by now how he is not very good at it.

If Hurst is the best player on the board left than I will have no problem taking him. At 19 we're at the mercy of the board. Better players could be wiped out by the time we pick.

Since when has Collins qualified for too "very good 3 Tech"?

If Maliek Collins keeps you from drafting someone, you are doing it wrong.

Couldn't agree more. I feel like fans look at the stat sheet and see 5 sacks from his rookie season and think he's way better than he really is.

He offers very little value against the run.

If hurst is the best player then u take him, collins is ok at best so far and needs to earn his snaps imo! Irving is a beast at DE and could be part of a studly 3 man rotation with Taco and Laurence as well as rotating in w Hurst inside. All the great lines have depth and rotate waves of talent, look at philly this year, adding barnett, jernigan and long to guys like grahm and cox paid huge dividends for them. That said I like Payne the best but Hurst is a beast too! Id be curious what insight we get from Taco and J Lewis on their former teamate?

It should be obvious.Collins hasnt worked out at 3T and Irving cant take the beating and gets injured a lot.

Here here... Sadly Marinara would rather have 10 three techs than a game changing 1....

Where do these false narratives come from?

Collins was really good as a rookie playing 3-tech.

He was forced to play 1-tech in 2017 and played through an injury. Irving wouldn't have been as successful in 2017 if the other DT was terrible.

They need a 3-man rotation of Collins, Irving and a legit 1-tech. With 2 DT positions that makes it about 60% of snaps for each with the 4th guy at 20%. They play both DTs basically as 3-techs on 3rd and long type situations.

Would you rather have 2 Aaron Donalds on the field or 1 Donald and 1 Vea/Payne? Unless a 1tech has some pass rush skills like Suh, they don't want to use a first round pick on a run-stuffing nose tackle who comes off the field in pass situations.

Name all the game changing 1's in the league, currently.
1's are not game changing unless they can run down plays laterally and get 5+ sacks per year. Suh is a game changing 1 tech. There are very few. Most are one trick ponies.
