Why would ESPN pay Witten 4 million?

Cause Gruden left
Well that’s the main reason
They are all still looking for the next John Madden
He was one I really enjoyed because he taught fans about the game. Romo does some of that too
Fans here know what a Mike is, or even a dancing elephant, but may of us learned a lot about the games from watching guys like madden call games

I’d much rather see him on one of the major networks. Curious which one is getting in the bidding war? I’m thinking NBC.

Seems like a lot of money for that job..guess I'm out of the loop on that salary structure. I thought I read Troy 500k starting out

Right. They offered him 10 million.

That has to sting to Witten only being offered 4.

And why I bet NBC is offering more.

True. Right now I think Witten is doing a lot of soul searching. I think if this was a done deal he would publicly announce he is retiring from the game, yet has said nothing to this point. I think Cowboys value him as a player and a dedicated player for this team that they are giving him time to come to a decision.

Because he's reliable, has tons of football experiences to relate, and when you need to pass him the mic chances are he'll never be more than a few yards away.

No kidding. Knock his headset off and he'll keep right on talking. Break his jaw and he'll mime the commentary. He will never miss a game.

Troy started out at 500k? Was that when he started calling actual NFL games or was that what he made when he spent an offseason or two (while he was still playing) calling NFL Europe games to prepare for his post-playing career as a broadcaster?
