The Arizona Cardinals are probably the worst team in the NFL. They have tons of injuries including QB Kyler Murray, All Pro S Budda Baker and their starting QB is Josh Dobbs, the former Tennessee Volunteer who has played for 8 different NFL teams in his career. It’s clear the Cards are tanking for the Caleb Williams lottery in next year’s draft.

But as bad as the Cards are - and they are really bad - Don’t forget that even a really good team like the Cowboys can take the opponent too lightly and get a bigger fight than expected.

Remember the Hou Texans game last year? We barely beat the second worst team in the league 27-23 and we were playing at home. Remember Texans QB Davis Mills somehow looked good for 3 qtrs and lame Texans WR Chris Moore had 10 receptions for 124 yards and a TD? We were lucky to win that game.

Or how about the 2021 game home loss vs a lousy eventual 7-10 broncos team? We were riding high and confident and they came into AT&T and curb stomped us 30-16, after leading us 30-0. It was humbling.

Last year the lowly broncos embarrassed the 49ers 11-10 in one of the ugliest NFL games ever. The chiefs lost to a horrible colts team last year 20-17…at Arrowhead!

Folks I’m not predicting a loss Sunday in Arizona. In fact I believe Dallas will win and should win easily. But this isn’t Georgia vs Directional State U. You cannot take ANY NFL team lightly. Ever. The Cowboys need to take every opponent seriously even if we as fans don’t.

I don’t either. I’m just pointing out that occasionally really bad NFL teams can surprise you. I gave several examples in the OP. Thankfully our players probably won’t take the cards as lightly as many of our fans do.

The NFL is not college football where picking winners is not that hard when you have teams like Georgia, Ohio State, etc who have an overwhelming talent advantage. The talent difference in the NFL is not nearly as big.

The Cowboys should win this game easily. I expect them to do just that. But only if they take each opponent each week seriously. The NFL is not college FB.

You never want to give an inferior team hope. Momentum is a huge equalizer.

The Texans game last year changed when Turpin fumbled a punt deep in Dallas territory. Dallas had taken the opening kick and drove the field for a TD. They then stopped Houston without a 1st down and forced a punt. There’s no way to know, but if Dallas drives the field and gets at least 3 points, Houston probably starts going through the motions unless something happens to give the hope (like a pick 6).

That game is one of the reasons I’m not a Turpin fan. The first job of a returner is to not turn the ball over and he had 2 critical turnovers last year and another that fortunately was recovered by the good guys.

Dallas WILL win IF they don’t turn the ball over.

Just FYI, the colts beat the Chiefs in Indianapolis, not arrowhead

While I generally agree, these days you kind of can.

The quarterbacking is at an all time low in this league. I mean, more than half of the starters in this league absolutely suck and will never get an ounce better.
That's the truth. We are seeing some pitiful QB play these days. Some games are not watchable because of it.

Honestly, I don't think they have any intention of winning one game this season. I know it's a bold statement but just don't see it.

BTW.......I think Murray has played his last down for them. I don't see them risking him getting any additional injuries when he is ready to return.

Most surprising number for the Cardinals, especially with that situation.... No interceptions thrown yet. That may be about to change. :yourock:
They did throw at least 1 against the Giants, but there was a Giant penalty that canceled it out.

Dobbs is not a guy you can count on as an opposing team to make bad mistakes. Not your typical bad backup QB. Reminds me of Cooper Rush in that sense.

Good point and good comparison. Like Rush, Dobbs is not that physically talented but in the cards’ two losses this year he hasn’t thrown a pick yet. The Cowboys pass rush against a really suspect Cards OL may change that no interception start Dobbs has had.

The difference from bad teams vs good teams is minimal. Not a lot of room for error. Get off that bus in Arizona with the attitude the game is in the bag and the team can be shocked. Just as you stated Bob we can lose games we are supposed to win. I think MM will have this years edition ready to go and the Redbirds can take another L to further their Caleb Williams hunt.
