CFZ Why you can’t take any NFL team lightly

The Cardinals should be 2-0 coming into the game on Sunday. But, bad teams do bad things at the worst time.

You can't overlook any opponent or you will get beaten. They're pros too. However, Dallas should win going away if they are efficient, turnover free, score TDs not kick FGs in the red zone, and the defense makes big plays while giving up no big plays.

..yep, Cards will be playing lights out. Its there SB.

This is like a drunk guy with knife in hand. Gotta take him seriously.

It's going to be a beat down like at the concourse. Blood everywhere. we will be so far ahead that the backups won't get to play. 49-12

The Arizona Cardinals are probably the worst team in the NFL. They have tons of injuries including QB Kyler Murray, All Pro S Budda Baker and their starting QB is Josh Dobbs, the former Tennessee Volunteer who has played for 8 different NFL teams in his career. It’s clear the Cards are tanking for the Caleb Williams lottery in next year’s draft.

But as bad as the Cards are - and they are really bad - Don’t forget that even a really good team like the Cowboys can take the opponent too lightly and get a bigger fight than expected.

Remember the Hou Texans game last year? We barely beat the second worst team in the league 27-23 and we were playing at home. Remember Texans QB Davis Mills somehow looked good for 3 qtrs and lame Texans WR Chris Moore had 10 receptions for 124 yards and a TD? We were lucky to win that game.

Or how about the 2021 game home loss vs a lousy eventual 7-10 broncos team? We were riding high and confident and they came into AT&T and curb stomped us 30-16, after leading us 30-0. It was humbling.

Last year the lowly broncos embarrassed the 49ers 11-10 in one of the ugliest NFL games ever. The chiefs lost to a horrible colts team last year 20-17…at Arrowhead!

Folks I’m not predicting a loss Sunday in Arizona. In fact I believe Dallas will win and should win easily. But this isn’t Georgia vs Directional State U. You cannot take ANY NFL team lightly. Ever. The Cowboys need to take every opponent seriously even if we as fans don’t.

I agree with you that we can't take any team lightly. I think the Cardinals have showed that their players have a lot of heart. I expect us to win of course. That said, I argue they may not be the worst team in the league. Cleveland just lost Chubb. The Texans are....well, the Texans. The Vikings and Chargers are battling on Sunday to see whose season is more screwed. Oh, and there's the Bears.

i get that but this team is different than most cowboys teams we have seen over the years
Yes. There’s a different feel to this team. One thing I noticed right away is they are keeping the same energy all four quarters. They got their foot on the gas all game as opposed to years past when they let teams creep back in.

Agreed and great points. Dobbs will be running for his life. If they can run the ball and Dobbs can scramble they could potentially keep the game close for a quarter or two.

If the defense is disciplined they should handle their fire drill offense from the start.

Didn't Dobbs almost beat Dallas, while playing for the Titans last year?

Because we’re friends, and we were allowed to take some teams lightly. As long as the team doesn’t.

Well it wasn’t a blowout but it wasn’t that close either. The Cowboys won 27-13. The titans never led but got as close as 17-13 in the 3rd qtr before the Cowboys scored the last 10 points. Dobbs was 20-39-232- 1TD- 1 INT. He was ok.

But you are right to think even what is considered a mediocre at best QB like Dobbs can keep it from being a blowout. Who knows? It’s the NFL, right?

Although true, I'm not sure that matters. Even the great 90s Cowboys lost to teams like the Rams and Browns in Dallas. They had no business losing those games. Remember that time Dallas barely beat an 0-8 Bengals team?
