Simply put, the best thing we could've done in a deep defensive draft is take a highly ranked offensive lineman.

With this, our offense will be able to run the ball much better, in turn keeping the best part of our football team (offense) on the field.

We have promising safeties that are young in Church, Johnson, and Wilcox. Mo Claiborne should be improved with a full offseason, and I'm generally happy with Carr and Scandrick.

Our linebackers, if healthy, are a very formidable unit.

And the depth in this draft is defensive line, meaning we can snag difference makers and solid players in the later rounds. Rod Marinelli makes magic with anyone he can get his hands on.

tl;dr- Zach Martin keeps our defense off the field and the Cowboys felt the best addition to our defense was keeping them off the field as much as possible.

I freaking love the pick. This has the potential to be a top-5 offensive line in the league. And, incredibly young. Our line is going to last halfway through our next QB's career.

We're not going to run the ball more with Linehan.

when you are getting stopped, being out scored, pushed around, one OL guy is not going to change that. When you have a problem at safety but choose to ignore it again, you will see the evidence on the field as yet again our middle will be wide open to let teams roll over us.

Building the O-Line dynasty like in the 1990's. I love it. Get trai Turner in there and let's go to work!!

they will remember quickly once our middle is abused again and we hear the groans from the cheerleaders.

He ran more than the Cowboys last year when he finally got a good rb.

They better not have any more short yardage run problems anymore.

Safety isn't really the need you seem to think. Front 7 is where is at, Wilcox will be a good player. Not only that we ate getting a ton of players back from being injuried. We need defense for sure and if safety is BPA then take him but I think DL is more concerning.

How do you win. ... build the trenches.

I can't say I'm as happy with the secondary as you are, but you are right about how this helps our defense.

There is also something to be said about what this will do to Romo's overall confidence sitting in the pocket. If he can trust the bigguns in front of him, we actually may indeed see a more trustworthy Romo. I could be wrong...but here's hoping anyway.

Our safety situation is terrible right now.

Well, we better start pretty soon. Signing McClain and Mincey isn't what I would call building the trenches.

Drafting Martin is building the trenches. Just one pick guys slow down. Rounds 2-7 still to go

mostly true...he ran Bush when REggie was healthy but he was banged up alot...and they didn't have a good backup...and then HE got hurt too.

thats all well and good, but we have a need at safety and one of the two players could have solidified that position that has been plaquing us for years. OKay fine, that aside, does Martin help where Dallas was hurt on offense? To me, no, our offensive game plan held us back more than the offensive players did. I think Callahan had that line working well enough. It was Garrett who should have looked at the detriot and GB games and said "never again" and when you are staring at two good safeties, or a player whos solid, dont get me wrong, but that wasnt the biggest need at that position wiht that scenario. Im sorry, that one OL guy wont make the offense that different in one year, but one of those two safeties could have made enough time for our DL to get the job done. Now the middle is still open and your pick really wont be ready for a good year.
