Why?

The Cowboys are playing the pathetic Jaguars on Sunday in London. After that, they have a Bye. Supposedly, Tony Romo is going to start on Sunday. Why?
Is Weeden THAT bad that he can't beat the Jaguars?
Isn't an extra week of rest going to help Romo's back?

Unless Weeden is that bad, it seems to me like an idiotic idea.
Of course, it's possible that the Cowboys are playing mind games against a team with ONE win.
Romo should have a field day on Sunday but if he were to get hurt and be out for the rest of the year, you could kiss ALL hopes to make the playoffs Goodbye.

He already is and I'm sure a lot of folks are praying he doesn't get worse and can finish out the season

Weeden is pretty Sanchezey, yeah. On the other hand, if you've got one of the best QBs in the conference, and he's healthy enough to play, and your team is better when he plays, and his injury isn't one where you're likely to prolong his recovery by playing him sooner rather than later, why wouldn't you play him? To me, it seems crazy to consider sitting one of your highest paid offensive players if he' able to play and play at a high level.

I've seen better QB play in high school games. We have no choice but play Romo.

Vaughn or sign Pryor. No more Weeden plz.

Look, we both know Weeden can't throw. Pryor might be in the same boat, but at least he can run.

Foles has a broken bone and he is isn't playing.
Romo has two small broken bones but he MIGHT be playing - with a Bye coming up. That could possibly be an idiotic decision.

Not understanding your point here. It's purely a matter of pain tolerance. He'll play, we'll have our bye, and then come back relatively healthy for the NFCE stretch run.

While you guys are getting to enjoy life with Sanchez. What's the downside?

So you're saying that there is no possibility of hurting the back any more than what it already is and resting it for another 2 weeks won't help it either.
If that's the case, then he might as well play.

Word is that the transverse fractures are very painful, but not structural and carry little risk of further injury.

The bigger risk is that he'll be less than functional from the discomfort. But then, Weeden was less than functional from all the disfunction, so im not sure it really matters.

I do all the time.

I wasn't the one that wanted the ridiculous contract extension in the first place.

There is a big difference between 7-3 and 6-4. If he healthy enough to play, he has to be out there.

Forgetting for a moment how this thread started, I would prefer Romo not play this game unless somehow Jacksonville gets out of control - we need him for the rest of the season. As expected I don't agree with the owner/GM/backseat HC that wants to play Romo.

I realize the OP finds this thread therapy for him, so I have a little present for him that follows:

On the first day of school a first grade teacher explains to her class that she is an Eagles fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Eagles fans. Wanting to impress their teacher, everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise, 'Janie, why didn't you raise your hand?' Because I'm not an Eagles fan,' she replied. The teacher, still shocked, asked, 'Well, if you are not an Eagles fan, then who are you a fan of?' 'I am a Cowboys fan, and proud of it,' Janie replied. The teacher could not believe her ears. 'Janie please tell us why you are a Cowboys fan?' Because my mom is a Cowboys fan, and my dad is Cowboys fan, so I'm a Cowboys fan too!'' Well,' said the teacher in a obviously annoyed tone, 'that is no reason for you to be a Cowboys fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mom was an idiot and your dad was a moron, what would you be then?' Then,' Janie smiled, 'I'd be an Eagles fan.'

"Less than functional" could very well mean incompletions and interceptions - but I did see on Pro Football Talk that Romo is "probable" for Sunday.
I guess the game plan will be simple - Hand off to Murray, hand off to Murray, and continue to hand off to Murray.

That's what I'd do. Two-three step drops on 1st or 2nd down pass plays. Screen game, and run the ball. Take shots down the field when you don't see blitz. Take a dive if the blitz is on and you see protection breaking down whether you have a guy open or not. Trust the defense to get to Bortles and that bad Jags OL. Rest up so youre good and healthy to beat the Giants and Eagles back to back in a 10 day span after the bye and then enjoy the extra 10 days off to prepare for the Bears and Eagles in another 10 day span after that.
