wide recievers in draft

Hardy is the only one I might consider but to be honest, that's really only because the class is so weak this year.

Ditto.

Maybe Hardy at 28, if we can't get a veteran WR.

But I think I'd rather just wait until the 2nd or maybe even the 3rd round.

Could someone who has seen Sweed play a lot give a scouting report on him. Draftscout compares him to Andre Johnson and seems to be pretty high on him. Besides his injury what is pushing him down in a pretty weak Wr class?

poor guy. He does need to change that. I'm fine with Bowman.

BRING THE TEXAS BOY BACK!!!!!!!!

If we have a shot at Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin with #28 I'd rather do that.

Watched most texas games. When he is healthy he creates match up problems because of his size. He has all the physical skills to be top notch. Production was down end of his college career but I think that was due to line issues texas was having. If he can stay healthy he is dangerous. Up and above every WR in this weak class.

Thanks for responding. Is he a legit number 1 receiver? Where is his value in this draft do you think?

Time will tell on that one. I think he very well could be in a few years. If your looking to develop a WR then he is someone to look at.

Sweed has the tools to be a number one but receivers are such a crapshoot you never know for sure. I think he's a legit first rounder any year (but not a top 10-15 guy), especially if there wasn't the wrist concern.

As for scouting, he doesn't look that fast when running, yet is able to get open deep. He's good at going up in jump balls, he'll win most of them and make some tough catches but won't catch them all. He's strong and physical, will catch a short hitch and stiffarm the db and get by him..and he can put on a move and separate from the db as well. So he has good quickness and burst. Those are some of the things that makes him at least somewhat special for a 6'4" receiver. He's not at the Randy Moss/ Calvin Johnson level of "big receiver athleticism" but he's one step below and a step above most.

We won't draft a WR because they are garbage this year. We will most likely trade for a vet wide out like Roy Williams, Chad Johnson or Anquan Boldin. We will end up with Pacman on draft day if not sooner and draft a RB in the first. I still see Jerry doing what he has to do to get McFadden. We have very few holes that would be filled with the signings of Pacman and a Vet wide out. That would allow us to package some picks to move up in the draft. We will get a few comp picks next year and already have 2 6th round picks in a VERY shallow draft. Not to mention we will have close to no needs if we retain our own players again next season as well as adding players like Roy Williams Adam Jones and Darren McFadden.

That seems rather clear as I appoint you Master of the Obvious for the Day gentle sir.

If you could arrange this I would forever be in your debt. Well at least for the coming year.

BTW, who we pick first will be influenced as always by the teams around us, the depth of the draft, our board, and whether the crows fly east that day.

Newest possibility to be mentioned is Adarius Bowman and his dropping draft stock due to possession of weed

:bang2:  :bang2:

No way in hell will we draft this guy. Not a chance. The guy won't get drafted at all.

Not with the harsh penalties Goodell is throwing down on off field behavior now. No team wants to risk it.

If we can't get Boldin or RW then put me in on the Hardy or Desean Jackson wagon.

I was hoping for the kid from Vanderbilt in the second round, but perhaps that puts me in the minority.

He's a quality player and a much better option than throwing a #1 at a position with an unusually high bust rate in a year with most top players having a higher than usual bust potential.

I'd be thrilled if Sweed were our choice at #28.

I think the guy has the talent and work ethic to be very successful at the NFL level.

And I think if it weren't for the wrist injury, the Cowboys would have no chance at getting him.

That said, if Detroit's #11 is available for pick #28, I'd prefer him!

Didn't Doucet have awful times at his pro day, like 4.6? I think he has dropped into the second round.

For those in the know( and I know you're quite a few) can you tell me which wide recievers in this draft the cowboys have been looking at closely . I heard somewhere we liked Doucett...is this true?

I would have to say both Jacksons, Hardy, Thomas, Manningham. I believe they'll be available in the 2nd round.
