I'm gonna back him up because he isn't a convicted felon with a reckless lifestyle like Vick's past.

And Vick couldn't pass well until 2010, almost a decade into his career...and after some jail time.

Luck will be good, but when people call Rg3 Mike Vick they are being hopelessly superficial, perhaps even skin deep quite literally, an athletic black man that plays quarterback, that's where the comparison ends.

RG3 is more comparable to a faster more agile Steve Young.

I saw Vick play in college as I was at Virginia Tech at the same time.

It was an option based run offense with the occasional play action deep pass (which Vick was damn good at it, throwing deep to Andre Davis)

Vick in 2 full seasons only THREW 313 passes. Griffin completed 291 passes in 2011

Vick had stat lines of 8/11, 213 yards, 2 TDs in the passing game and 10 rushes, 88 yards, 1 TD running the ball.

Anyone else get the feeling they are worried about having a black face of the franchise in Indy?, who--in fact, has never had a black QB.

Race is def an issue when the comparisions are made, in particular RG3 vis a vis Newton or Vick (or in some terrible cases Akili Smith or Andre Ware)

Luck has been the number 1 overall pick since October 2010, for whatever draft he would enter. The kid is the real deal and has it all. If he slipped to number 2 I would be damn well thrilled

With that said, Griffin is such a natural fit for Washington DC. It still is a predominantly black city, and his personality and charisma are natural fits. If you think of how Gilbert Arenas was the big star in the mid 2000s, and Alex Ovechkin from 2008-2011, RG3 will dwarf them by miles. He will be the most popular person in the city if the Commanders are winning. He also was a Poli Sci major and considered law school, and DC of course has the most lawyers on the planet


Young, smart, shining personality, great character. He fits Washington DC and will be an idol to most of the youth in the city, in particular on the other side of the Anacostia.

It is crazy how RG3 has dwarfed any interest in drafting Andrew Luck, here in DC, and is likely because, while Luck is more pro-ready, a safer bet; the overall more complete player. RG3 is more exciting, he has more ceiling/upside, and he brings something never seen before, and a sense of hope in DC.

I think it's the best move the Skins have made in 20 years - but really, if you look at our recent history, there's not much competition (likely only the Ricky Williams trade: that allowed us to draft Arrington, Samuels, Bailey, Jansen etc..., or drafting Taylor over Winslow, and picking up Cooley later in the round.

No way you guys are getting Luck, but if you did you should be beyond ecstatic.

Flip the script and two months ago say the Colts were taking RG3. You would be here calling them fools for passing on Luck and that the Skins were landing a one-in-a-decade prospect.
