I like it. Will allen has blown some coverages and I rather pair Wilcox w Barry in this young of age. They both could be formidable for years to come

Even though I don't think Allen has been as bad as some people think, he just doesn't have Wilcox's ceiling.

Beat me to it. I was just about to start this thread. I hope this is a permanent move.

JJ's a sure tackler and he has potential thumper written all over him. I just worry about his coverage skills. Can he cover any better than Allen? That's the question for me.

It'll be about the angles for Wilcox.

He's got loads more speed than Allen. On that busted 70 Yard Cruz TD Wilcox almost ran him down from the opposite side of the field. Impressive speed.

Agreed. And I'd like to see what JJ and Church can do in tandem. They're both athletic and young. This could be good.

Good, let him gain experience and bring a more dynamic play for the secondary too.

It looks like Wilcox will get his shot to start based on Allen's remarks after practice. Hopefully Allen is a good soldier in dealing with this.

Wilcox, a third-round pick who calls Allen a mentor, chose his words very carefully and respectfully. He said he isn’t certain whether he will start Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, adding that only the coaches know at this point.

“I have to be ready,” Wilcox said. “There can’t be a slack off at any position. I just have to be ready when my number is called.”

There is no question the Cowboys consider Wilcox a future starter. It’s a matter of whether the future begins this week.

The Cowboys are enamored with Wilcox’s athleticism, instincts and big-hitting ability, but he’s making a major leap from Georgia Southern, a small school where he played receiver and running back until his senior season.

Well I'm all for getting Allen out of there, guess the main issue is really Church and JJ play the same position.

I want them both out there, just want to see how it would workout since they are by far our most talented safeties. We need more playmaking out there, and JJ definitely has more potential for that than Allen. Just have to know, there will be some blown coverages out there with JJ.

If Wilcox is truly ready to start, teaming him with Carr and Church creates a good young secondary. If Mo ever figures out, they'll be the one of the best young secondaries in the league.
