My problem with Julius this year are the same warning signs last year. That being a) He doesn't hit holes very decisively and b) He lets one guy bring him down way too often. How many times have you seen it this year where it looks like he's about to break a long one and is brought down by an ankle grab? If he can juke the guy out of his shoes he's fine. But once contact is made he's not very effective at slipping tackles.

I agree with both A & B. ;)

Does this mean that the offensive line is actually playing well and it is all Jones' fault?

Its been the same offensive line blocking for Marion Barber, and Barber averaged 5.5 ypc yesterday, compared to JuJos 3.6

Also . . . that same offensive line was blocking when Marion Barber rushed for 100 yards.

Some of the blame falls on the line, for sure. But as ImanRoshi mentioned, much of the problem falls on JuJo not being a physcial runner. It gets taken down too easily, and can't break a tackle to save his life.

Sure he isn't blameless. I just don't think he is that pampered by the fans either.

Barber is playing well. His average also benefitted from a good play call and a great big hole that let him run untouched for a long run. I didn't see Julius get that kind of hole to run through yesterday. Most of the time, there were only small creases to go through. Both he and Barber did a decent job of hitting those small creases yesterday. Niether one has established themselves as the do all, every down, carry the team guy at this time. That is why it is nice to have both.

Pple are just seeing a more productive Barber then Jones. Its human nature to want to ride the hot hand. But the good thing is Parcells and Jones sees things from a different point of view.

I gotta admit, I see barber cut and miss pile up and then take out a saftey for 12 yards, then see Jones come in and run into a pile and fall down for a gain of 1 - even I wonder if we are playing the right back as the featured back sometimes. I still love Jones, but Barbers been all that and a bag of chips here lately. Jones cant even measure up to the pickle spear on the plate at this stage of the season. Barber is the better back at the moment. Overall, I dunno.

Good post, I agree.

And why are you a JJ hater if you think MB is the better back at this stage of the game?

There is no doubt in my mind, NONE WHATSOEVER, that JJ is not 100% right now. At 100% he's better than Barber IMO. But there are some backs that are just injury prone. He might be one of them.
