Will anyone sign in Dallas if we don't overpay

First I think its a bit comical when I hear people say "X person is from Texas or grew up a Cowboys fan" so they'd come here for less money. Even though more plausible for older guys, I don't see anyone really giving a discount to chase a ring.

Having said that - we can't even offer the ring angle, like a Denver, Seattle, SF...do you feel anyone will really sign in Dallas unless we do overpay for guys like Allen, Melton, etc. Meaning if one of these guys choose here, its almost 100% because we have them the best offer as there really is no other reason, other than maybe playing time?

thx

Dallas would have to over-pay those top tier teams you mentioned by significant amount.

Yes.

No state income tax in Texas. More likely to sign endorsement deals. The economy is very strong in Texas as well.

I don't make anywhere near what pro athletes make. But, living in Florida and not having to pay state income tax is a giant benefit for me.

I think Dallas has to be willing to pay a fair market wage but not necessarily overpay.

The market dictates what players make. As much as people want to blame jerry for giving out contracts too big, he gives out the same big contracts as just about every other owner, like it or not.

Of course some players would be happy to sign a deal in Dallas if we don't overpay. I don't think that's really what you're asking, though. Nobody another team also wants is going to sign in Dallas unless we overpay. Because that's how supply and demand work. VFA is an inefficient way to find anything other than role players. If you're shopping for starters, you're planning on overpaying, or you're an idiot. We have to overpay for at least one DL here because of the way things broke for us last year.

We will over pay that is the only thing we can offer. Broncos,49ers, Pats,Seahawks can lure guys in with their roster and achievements. But we can only lure ppl in with our wallet.

Its rare when you don't overpay for Free Agency which is why you try to avoid it. Contrary to popular belief I do think for the most part Jerry does get his guys re-signed on some very favorable deals. The Barry Church deal, the first Ratliff deal, the first Romo deal, the Scandrick deal, the Sean Lee deal.....he's signed some big contracts like the Ware and Miles but it wasn't above market value.. but when you start paying outside free agents? You are going to overpay. That's how you obtain them lol. You were the highest bidder. That's if you want the guy that's still in his prime.

Jerry and the entire FO needs to do a brainstorming session on what other advantages does Dallas has to offer besides money? I would say great town, great state of the art stadium, and.......hmmmm thats all I can think of for now.

No! Garretts "its a process" speeches after every lost is not a benefit of coming to Dallas.

Didn't know SF and Denver had rings and every franchise in the league is overpaying.

Hi YR - to clarify, are you saying that you believe players would sign here for not the flat-out best offer, because of taxes? Just want to make sure I'm understanding your point. thx.

PS - state taxes suck!

Okay, I'm not trying to get baited here (and you may not be trying to), but you don't think its plausible to tell a FA that you'll have a hell of a good chance to get the Superbowl with one of those teams, based on the today's information?

Denver and SF do have rings...what like 7 between them? Seattle didn't have one until last year, but I can't imagine those folks that signed there didn't at least let the fact that they were on the upswing influence them. At the end of the day though, money speaks, I agree.
