I swear, this team is snake-bit this season. It just seems like nothing is going right. When August rolled around, and Dallas looked to have had a great off season, a first round bye looked like a sure thing.

We knew the Cowboys had to wait four games for McClain and Hardy. There is no anticipating the key injuries the Cowboys would suffer. The impact of all of this has brought much frustration to the Cowboys and their fans. Murphy's Law is in full swing deep in the heart of Texas.

Somehow, some way, the pendulum of fortune has got to swing back in Dallas' favor. Maybe the most frustrating part of all of this is that Dallas just does not take the ball away anymore. The Cowboys seem to give the ball away pretty well. They are just not making their own luck.

I don't like blaming officiating, but that PI call on Devin Street was costly. Despite all of the other miscues, had Dallas got that TD by McFadden that they truly deserved, Dallas would not have had to go for it on 4th down late in the game. They could have kicked a field goal and put the game in overtime. For the 4th Dallas-Giants game in a row, the refs screwed the Cowboys on a crucial call. The other three were Giants fumbles that were given back to them.

Bottom line, the Cowboys have to make their own luck.

Still time to turn it around in the NFC Least. But some more changes have to be made, like playing not to lose on ST. Fair catching everything instead of attacking and creating another scoring threat has to change. Beasley as a returner is done, stick a fork in him. Sign Raheem Mostert and let's start playing football to win, in all 3 phases.

Was the plan all off-season <really> to have Beasley just fair catch all punts?

It doesn't make any sense to me.

Yeah I mean you just get the feeling it isn't our year. The defense was so good at creating takeaways there was no reason to think we wouldn't be even better this season especially with superior personnel and it just hasn't happened. The injuries are just devastating. I mean the two players you couldn't lose and that very thing happens. Two irreplaceable superstars. The coaching staff clearly hasn't been good enough to overcome that although I'm not sure which staff is when you're missing such important players. It's just been an avalanche.

I can't help but think we are cursed since the 90's. Nothing ever goes as expected for us. Trades go bad, drafts fall apart, calls get missed or go against us, QBs get injured, vets under-perform when they get paid, snaps get bobbled, open Craytons drop passes, etc.........

This offseason went great(beyond the RB situation) and we looked ready to challenge for the SB. We got 3 first rounders in the draft, got Hardy on a deal, Dez signed long term and the D looked improved.

Then week by week things just went wrong.
Hardy and McClain got suspended
the pre-season stunk and was flat
then OScan got hurt for the year
Dez broke his foot to ruin a great come from behind win
Romo broke his shoulder in a big win at Philly
The OL has had some injuries and inconsistent play
Weeden couldn't get it done
We got nothing from our 3 trades- Michael, Butler and Cassel

Not one bit of joy this season for me. Every time something goes good two things go bad.

O well... Any good safeties or wide receivers in this upcoming draft?

Butler caught some tough passes to keep the chains moving on critical 3rd downs

That call was a killer. Killed the momentum. There is no explanation for a call that poor.

I've never seen a call so blatantly bad. There is no explanation how a fair minded person could make a mistake like that. It was absurd.

I'm resigned to the fact that we are not making the playoffs and I honestly don't think we will win a game until Romo comes back.

And that may be a good thing for us.

We might go 5-11 and get a nice draft position. Possibly trade down and get 2 first rounders and make one a QB and another a FS which are entirely possible if you trade down a bit to gain an extra 1st rounder.

Then we could be an even better team for 2016 and be setup where we could have that eventual replacement for Romo and have a softer schedule.

that Pendulum of fortune hasnt swung our way in over 2 decades................... 2 freaking decades. If youre young you probably dont grasp just how long that is................... If youre older, you realize, maybe this isnt about just "luck".

This. It's like you can almost predict how things will turn out ahead of time. We are the polar opposite of the New England Patriots. Nothing they do ever turns out bad. I swear they could take the team from Boston College, put thme in Patriots uniforms with Brady, and they would win the division. You could put last year's NFC Pro Bowl team in Cowboys uniforms and they would miss the playoffs.
