Will Brice be a starter?

Ha. My point is that he should be coming back into this situation a lot more humble than when he left it 7 months ago or whatever. If he can help us, great. I think it’s worth a shot but my expectations are pretty low that he’ll be a difference maker.

I apologize because I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that the team was thinking of him as the answer at WR.

1 of his conditions to staying was to be a starter. Now that he's back, I'm sure he didn't come back to be the 4th option again.
LOL. if he is a starters then our WR groups sucks even more than I thought....this will be his 4th team in his career (twice in dallas) not really distinguishing himself. this is a desperation move on our part. not sure who is pushing for him. perhaps dak.

They've said they are going to be a receiver by committee going forward so my guess is there are no starters. Who lines up first is likely more about the gameplan than who is the better receiver in the room. But that's just me guessing.
This is exactly the way I see this receiving corps. The term “starters” is really relative with this group. There may even be certain game matchups where starters change. There is no one in this group that I consider as dominant enough to be considered a permanent starter in the traditional sense.

I would also add, I think TWill’s days are numbered. He played 11 snaps vs the midgets. That was before Brice Butler was signed.

Seriously! He basically signed for peanuts in Arizona after minimum interest around the league. He was supposed to be their #2 but then didn't make the team despite being in what might be the worse receiving core in the league. Numerous reports the last 3 years indicating he had issues knowing what route to run including doing so, directly leading to the 2nd int in the chargers game last season. Indications out of Arizona indicate he had issues picking up their offense leading to release. Now he comes back to Dallas and is supposed to dictate he is a starter? Maybe let's see if hes actually still on the team in 3 weeks or if this was just kicking tires!

I personally don't think Linehan knows what to do with all these receivers but I hope they figure it out.

That's half of the problem you spread reps with each guy and when you split your reps with 7 different people you are spreading your reps too thin. It doesn't allow you to build a strong rapport with your main receivers... It works with RB's in the running game because you just hand them the ball...

It'd be one thing if you could practice like they did in the 90's but the cupcake schedule they have now... I don't think it will ever be effective.

I don't think Butler was in a position to talk conditions when he came back. I even remember him saying something about just wanting to contribute.

He'll come here and get the scraps and be happy about it.

I don't think he's making a lot of demands, but I also don't think we added him as the 7th WR to give him scraps. We wanted him for something more.

Hurns & Williams = bust through two games.

Pretty shocking that Thompson has become the #1 go-to receiver.

I'm surprised, but I shouldn't be.

Thompson is a decent all around WR with real deep speed. That's a good fit for our offense, and the press man with no help defenses used last year to beat us.

Butler was our most productive WR per target, by far.

Hurns & Williams are basically a replay of last year - guys without speed who aren't going to get a lot of separation. When given the option, Dak will throw to guys who get separation instead.
