When Cooper Rush signed his current contract two years ago, it included a bonus clause that pays him $500,000 if he plays in 55 per cent of the team's snaps in a season. And he gets $250k for playing 45 per cent of the snaps, which he has already earned this season.
My understanding is Rush has played in 52.3% of the snaps so far this season and will need 65 snaps Sunday against the Commodes to get his next bonus. In 16 games so far, the Cowboys’ offense averages about 64 snaps in a game. And Rush has averaged 65 snaps in his eight starts.
This makes for an interesting scenario Sunday. If Rush needs 65 snaps to cash in on his bonus, will he get the chance to play the whole game or will they insert Trey Lance at some point? And how will that play in the locker room if the team thinks Cooper Rush is getting shafted from his bonus by playing Lance?
What do you think will happen with this Sunday?
Why does this matter?? you do realize they're not doing this on purpose to save money,
he's not being shafted....
here's the thing many of us have been wishing they would have played Lance at least a couple quarters if not 1/2 game or a full game the last three to five weeks had he done that had he got on the field at any of those moments he would have took away the opportunity for Cooper rush to lose his bonus anyway...
so we finally get to see lance in the game and now there's a new conspiracy??
they're trying to keep cooper from earning money ??
how about this how about paying a backup $5,000,000 to sit on the bench all year and you finally use him and now the fans question that you're too cheap no they should have been using Trey Lance much more this year and didn't they were wasting $5,000,000 had nothing to do with 250,000 this is about a $5,000,000 player who finally gets to play most of and if the other guy loses out on his bonus who cares he would have anyway if this went down the way it should have were four games ago Trey Lance should have been worked into the game plans basically the Cowboys burned $5,000,000 to have a third string quarterback play emergency quarterback all year and they finally used him in which people were clamoring for it and now there's a new conspiracy a new complaint against RGM our owner's so cheap he won't pay 250K Poor poor Cooper, Wosie me Cooper.... no I'd say that them spending 5 million on 1/3 string quarterback ought to say they're not cheap and that they made a mistake not playing him more the entire year not even going to give Cooper a opportunity to sniff his bonus..
