Will Cooper Rush's bonus opportunity happen?

1072 offensive snaps thus far on the season for the Cowboys.

Cooper Rush has 572 of 'em, which is 53.3%

1072/16 average is 67 snaps per game, so if Rush started (probably won't) and went 67 snaps, total would be 639 out of 1139, which would be 56.1%

When Cooper Rush signed his current contract two years ago, it included a bonus clause that pays him $500,000 if he plays in 55 per cent of the team's snaps in a season. And he gets $250k for playing 45 per cent of the snaps, which he has already earned this season.

My understanding is Rush has played in 52.3% of the snaps so far this season and will need 65 snaps Sunday against the Commodes to get his next bonus. In 16 games so far, the Cowboys’ offense averages about 64 snaps in a game. And Rush has averaged 65 snaps in his eight starts.

This makes for an interesting scenario Sunday. If Rush needs 65 snaps to cash in on his bonus, will he get the chance to play the whole game or will they insert Trey Lance at some point? And how will that play in the locker room if the team thinks Cooper Rush is getting shafted from his bonus by playing Lance?

What do you think will happen with this Sunday?
Why does this matter?? you do realize they're not doing this on purpose to save money,

he's not being shafted....

here's the thing many of us have been wishing they would have played Lance at least a couple quarters if not 1/2 game or a full game the last three to five weeks had he done that had he got on the field at any of those moments he would have took away the opportunity for Cooper rush to lose his bonus anyway...

so we finally get to see lance in the game and now there's a new conspiracy??

they're trying to keep cooper from earning money ??

how about this how about paying a backup $5,000,000 to sit on the bench all year and you finally use him and now the fans question that you're too cheap no they should have been using Trey Lance much more this year and didn't they were wasting $5,000,000 had nothing to do with 250,000 this is about a $5,000,000 player who finally gets to play most of and if the other guy loses out on his bonus who cares he would have anyway if this went down the way it should have were four games ago Trey Lance should have been worked into the game plans basically the Cowboys burned $5,000,000 to have a third string quarterback play emergency quarterback all year and they finally used him in which people were clamoring for it and now there's a new conspiracy a new complaint against RGM our owner's so cheap he won't pay 250K Poor poor Cooper, Wosie me Cooper.... no I'd say that them spending 5 million on 1/3 string quarterback ought to say they're not cheap and that they made a mistake not playing him more the entire year not even going to give Cooper a opportunity to sniff his bonus..

If that talk is circulating my bet it’s coming from Lance’s agent. No one, and I mean not a soul who has watched this guy play in preseason or before that with SF, would think Trey Lance is going to suddenly look impressive against a regular season set of NFL players.

Heres what makes me sick about having Trey Lance: Not only did we waste a 4th rounder on him, but he also has a total cap hit of $5.1 million this year! The cap hit for Saquon Barkley this year the way the egirls structured his contract is….wait for it…$3.8 million. So Trey Lance’s cap hit is over a million more than Saquon. What a great FO we have!
The talk has been coming from some in the media, especially those covering the Cowboys. It’s all silly talk. I would’ve never traded for him. We’re seeing exactly why SF traded him.

Welcome to the Dallas Cowboys Clown Show.
Pretty sure this one's on fans this is squarely on fans we should not be having any discussion about a man's bonus money when this has nothing to do with it they're not trying to save 250,000 they're simply just finally playing Trey Lance if he had been playing when fans wanted him to play the last three to four weeks Cooper rush wouldn't even be close to getting his bonus therefore this is a moot point it gets old this is not a conspiracy it has nothing to do with money they're already wasted money on Trey Lance and his $5,000,000 to be an emergency third quarterback that has not had one start this season hell we don't even know if he's starting this game we just know he's going to play..

I realized the disdain and the reason for it for the ownership in the front office but some of these things are just ridiculous the posts are insane they are so far from reality that nobody else on other teams talk about this there's no reason for a billionaire to worry about a man's 250,000 when they've been playing him the whole entire post Prescott injury when some of us wanted to see Trey Lance so we finally get to say Trey Lance and now it's a conspiracy over 250,000 which is sock money for Jerry Jones maybe he finally wants to see some of his $5,000,000 on the field that's why it's ridiculous he's payi....5 million he's not worried about 250K...

Let me be clear Cooper rush would not even be close to his bonus had Trey Lance got the opportunity he should have this year since Prescott went down that's the shortest version I have so this is a unnecessary post this whole entire thread was just another dig on Jerry Jones there's about 75 others that are reworded in different ways just to get a knock in and it's not going to change the thing...

They say Jerry Jones doesn't do these things but I'd like to note these a couple quick right off the top of my mind he cut jalen Smith in the middle of a very expensive contract mostly guaranteed he ate a lot of that money should've never paid him but he did cut him he cut Mike Nolan after one year with all that money left on his contract so he does do this stuff he's had plenty of moments where he's thrown away money that people say he doesn't he absolutely does... He is willing to part ways and eat money but in this case money has nothing to do with this I'm just saying he does he's not trying to avoid paying out 250,000...

It would be criminal not to get him that bonus. He has earned it.
He hasn't earned it show me where he's earned it have you seen the language in his contract it's not criminal at all it's called business they're not trying to keep him from earning his bonus but him losing to the eagles twice which is all on him for the most part he can't beat the eagles at all put him in a position where this last game didn't mean anything and it's the only reason Cooper is going to get sat down for Trey Lance because Trey Lance makes $5,000,000 and we at least get to see him one game that's the honest truth not the blown up let's pick on Jerry and call it criminal which is insane there's nothing criminal about utilizing another player on your team even if it cost somebody 250,000 that's not the point the point is trade lands never got his opportunity when he should have maybe that's criminal if Trey Lance would have got his opportunities since Prescott went down if he got to play 1/4 or 1/2 in any one of these games leading up to this game that Cooper would not have the opportunity to earn a bonus that has nothing to do with criminality that is in your contract...

To all you ridiculous people that feel like he earned 250,000 please start a go fund me page please from the bottom of my heart get this man his 250,000 so I don't have to read these insanely worded and very misworded post.....GEEZ!!!!

I will not contribute but let me know how that ******** works poor guy I feel so bad for him....

As much as Jerry sucks as a GM, it wouldn't surprise me if he awarded Rush his bonus, even if Lance were to play.

Without Lamb, which is 50% of the Cowboys offense, seriously doubt the Cowboys will get 65 snaps. Depends on how badly Washington wants that no. 6 seed, if they want it a lot, they'll play hard and our pitiful offense will have a lot of 3 and outs...

I think we will see all 3 QBs, much like a preseason game.
Cooper Rush will not get his 60+ snaps.
