First of all, I might be the biggest fan of our young TEs, Hendershot, Schultz, even McKeon. But if you're Dalton Schultz and you're logging nearly 100 yards and 2 TDs along with some key blocks in the playoffs after being tagged in somewhat of a prove it year, and you keep that up moving forward, you might be making a case to justify getting the payday you want.

Schultz, and the other TEs, have been Dak's so-called security blanket.

What I really like is something I heard in McCarthy's press conference after win at Bucs: that Schultz actually goes to the QB meetings.

He had a slow start this year with the injury early on, but if he closes with a bang, Schultz could be on his way to earning that payday he was wanting this offseason.

Only time will tell, but if I was Dalton Schultz, I'd continue attending those QB meetings.

Dalton schultz does nothing special and cant block.

Any other TE can do what he does in the passing game
Shultz is a good operator in that 5 to 10 yard range, but thats not hard to find at TE. He doesnt off anything down the field. Ferguson should be able to do much of what Shultz did they last years, and it helps that Hendershot is pretty decent TE too. Long term Ferguson may ultimately be better than Shultz

Somebody is going to pay him. We like our guys so it may very well be Jerry that cuts the check.

I mean, you can trash him for his blocking in space issues, but it's blown out of proportion. He's a real threat to defenses, has good hands and is effective. I wouldn't before, but he came to play in a win or go home situation. I'd find a way to tag him again or 2-3 year. The younger guys might fill in.

Funny how so many said Schultz sucked and that Dallas was stupid for giving him the franchise tag.....yet in spite of being injured and missing 2games this season Schultz was the 2nd leading Dallas receiver, the 2nd most targeted receiver, had the 2nd most receiving TD's, had the 2nd most receptions, the 2nd most receiving yards per game average, and the 3rd most yards after the catch.....and was one of the main reasons Dallas won last night.

I was thinking last night, he was probably worth the franchise tag for just this past Buc’s game, but he’s not worth what it will take to resign him. Let him go, take your comp pick back and go with the younger guys.

Michael Mayer out of ND is a name to watch if he is available when the Cowboys draft. As for Schultz I would prefer they spend that money elsewhere.

Dalton had a real nice game…no doubt. I‘d rather roll with our young tight ends next year. I still think we need a better number 2 or 3 receiver to compete with Gallup…but Gallup played well Monday as well…

Schultz had a productive regular season, nothing spectacular but last night he had the great game that we've been waiting for. He was a key reason why we won, and though he had some missed blocks, he also had his fair share of nice blocks.

From another club. He will get 13+ a year though. Ferguson looks like a better version Shultz, bright future.
