Will Diggs get paid based off of 2022?

5 year league minimum, with the incentive: If they win at home a free hotdog and soda, but he has to pay for toppings. If he gets an interception in the home win, half off the price of the toppings

Just re-sign him. We all know the org. will be way under the cap again anyway, right?

IDK man.........I have a hard time paying this position $25M a year unless he's a true proven shut-down CB. It's a position where stats and performance fluctuate. If you compare the top 5 CBs over the last 5 years, they are all over the place. Like you said, can you get the same thing from a player in the $10-15M range? I think you can.....
I have no issue with that stance at all. With CBs by default, I would rather have 3-4 good players than 1 all pro with a bunch of question marks anyways. I think you're spot on that you can get similar production on the FA market for half the price. The difference is you're likely to lose the ceiling that a guy like Diggs brings, but that could be perfectly fine provided that money gets spent well and you get a 1st round pick coming back via trade.

Football teams win when the players are committed to winning. Especially when the most committed players are your best and highest paid players. Football teams fail when your "leaders" are guys like Jaylon Smith who was committed to his brand, guys like Diggs who was committed to his next contract, guys like Zeke and D Flaw who after getting paid were committed to themselves. Our drunken clown enables everything and it usually has nothing to do with trying to win.

Where he had all those interceptions, and they're WAITING for him to do it again somehow?? Good corner, is he worth us resetting the market for??
Someone is going to pay Diggs. I don't know that he will reset the market for CBs, but he is going to get a big payday. We have to wonder if the Cowboys can afford to pay Diggs, Dak, Parsons, Pollard, CeeDee, and others. This is the problem with the league today, IMO. A team that drafts well, develops star players cannot pay all of them under the CAP. Teams that draft well are penalized for doing a good job. But this is why Jerry's philosophy of building through the draft does not work.

I can’t assess his play properly, and I’m not sure how anyone does without the all 22, but ok.

He did indeed seem to be less feast or famine this season, which many wanted of him.

Overall I have no problem with him, I just wouldn’t pay a corner what it’s going to take to keep him.

It’s an extremely moot point, and I’d wager anything that they see him as a cornerstone type, and plenty of #7 jerseys are being sold. He isn’t going anywhere.

My question is….if #4s salary is what’s preventing this team from getting over the hump, what happens when it’s time to pay Diggs….and Parsons for that matter. Lamb too. Not to veer off topic, but no matter which side you’re on with it, at least part of the problem has been breaking the bank to keep the out of tune band together.

I guess there’s another season or two but the clock is ticking on these rookie deals.

Don't get me wrong here because I think 80% of your post is accurate, but I have to disagree with teams being penalized. I think they get penalized when they overpay for their own players simply because they drafted them and they sell jerseys. Diggs is a great example of that. They have a player here that they spent a 2nd round pick on and now have maybe the most valuable CB in the league given his performance/ceiling/contract. They don't have to sign him, and could easily cash in on that value and get a pile of assets and cap freedom coming back their way, much like KC did with Tyreek Hill last offseason.

Prioritizing the draft is an excellent thing, and I love how well the Cowboys have drafted over the last decade or so. The problem is after you still have assets that fluctuate in value and on occasion you have to be willing to cash in on some of those assets. Instead Jerry tends to sell players at their lowest value like Amari Cooper.

He may get paid but I can tell you with a 100% confident, his contract won't reset the market. Stephen Jones admitted years ago, he would never give one of his players a contract that resets the market.
Which is the reason we wont get the deal done....the CAP going up another $32m means he and his agent will go to free agency and expect someone will pony up.

Diggs will become the highest paid CB in the NFL. Just hope it's with another team. Get a monster DT like Payne in as a substitute.

WHO WILL BE THE HIGHEST PAID DT IN THE LEAGUE WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE

Diggs showed my what he is made of in the playoffs and it wasn't pretty. He is the type of human that will make you sad after they get a large sum of guaranteed money.

Hey hey stop we're not used to this here!!!!! Lol

Outside of Dak, he had literally the most important play of the game where he ducked the hit on Kittle that would’ve ended the drive.

I’m sorry but I can’t erased that play out of my head. We beat Tampa but he was also our worse defensive player that game.

I’ll be honest, I was disappointed with how he finished the season.

He was caught guessing several times and left people wide open for touchdowns. His avoidance of tackling was also glaring. And he even dropped some balls that he normally wouldn’t.

I need to see a bounce back this year before I back up the Brinks truck. Just my opinion.

100%, I would trade him. He is not gonna be worth the contract, and it will keep Dallas from signing others.
