Lamarr Houston’s headed to the #Bears for $35M over five years with $12.9M guaranteed. Solid for versatile DE>

With Ware gone, would Ealy be a possibility over Donald?

I still feel that we will take Donald @ 16 if he is still there. If not, then Zack Martin, CJ Mosely, Ford or Ealy in that order. A trade down is always a possibility if Donald is gone and then one of the players above would still be available. I hope our first 3 picks are DL/OL with maybe an impact LB in the mix. Round 4 = QB.

I'd worry more about the Giants. They lost Linval Joseph.

Yes Donald is still the top of the list if there. Was just wondering if the focus changes. But more from us fans and the media rather than the team.
I would be happy with any of those players.
My original draft thoughts were DL, DL, LB / S / OG in 1st 3 rounds. But now a trade down, then go DL, DL, LB / S, DL / OG in 1st 3 rounds.
However, that also depends on any FA's signed obviously.
I would be ok with a QB in the 4th, or just BPA at any position. I can see a WR if also not addressed in FA.

The Cowboys might be able to nab 2-3 solid defensive linemen in free agency at bargain prices if they remain patient.

Then draft two more in first three rounds.

I actually think - maybe I'm kidding myself - they have a plan.

I think they always had a plan for different scenarios. Thing is was the plan of sound mind....:D
If it works, fans / media will say it was lucky [JJ won't get credit], if it don't work, it will be the same blame JJ stuff.

However, Marinelli will need to really show his genius of developing DL as well as the new DC.

My guess is that Donald won't be available. That makes Ealy, Jernigan or a safety more likely. But if Donald somehow is still there, take him even if Melton is signed. Melton is an injury risk and Donald mitigates that risk.

still a threat. Houston plays DE and is going to fill Peppers position. they might lose Melton and need to fill that spot.

That would be a first. I'll believe it when I see it.

It looks like Will McClay is running this show.

Does he have the final say on all coaching and personnel decisions like a real GM? Was Will McClay the one who released DeMarcus Ware?

No way.

McClay may have some more lattitude when it comes to some GM duties. But he is not running the show. He can't go to the bathroom without Jerry Jones' permission. Make no mistake about that.

Jerry trusts him. He made the Frederick pick. He found Selvie. He targeted Wilcox and Terrance Williams.

I credit Marinelli, too. I'll bet Jerry is going by what those guys want to do for a change.

Of course, Jerry has the final say. But he's listening. No way does he cut Ware and Austin on the same day. That's not the way Jerry does things.

I'd love to get the inside scoop on how McClay wrestled organizational power away from Tom Ciskowski.

Maybe they'll write a book about it some day.
