I'd love to get the inside scoop on how McClay wrestled organizational power away from Tom Ciskowski.

Maybe they'll write a book about it some day.

Me, too. Perhaps he's more diplomatic than Tom.

I know Brian Broaddus thinks the world of McClay.

Nobody would even know about him if Broaddus wasn't constantly name dropping him.

First it was Ireland, then Ciskowski, and now McClay is our temporary hope for salvation

Not buying it. He's been here all along

Doesn't sound like that's where the Bears intend to play him

I believe that they are moving McClellin to LB from DE. I could see them bring McClellin up to DE in the nickel with Houston moving over to DT for the best pass rush combination.

I still feel that we will take Donald @ 16 if he is still there. If not, then Zack Martin, CJ Mosely, Ford or Ealy in that order. A trade down is always a possibility if Donald is gone and then one of the players above would still be available. I hope our first 3 picks are DL/OL with maybe an impact LB in the mix. Round 4 = QB.

I put it at an 80% chance of trading down. I think they are obsessed with getting more picks, and it certainly seemed to work out well last year. Only thing that will stop them is Johnny Football being there (I may think too little of them).

Bears and Giants have lots of holes besides DT. Also Jernigan fits what chicago is going towards more than Donald. NYG also need help all over, I could see Donald there but not as replacement for joseph. Joseph was their run stuffer. He will be more of a replacement for jenkins.

I like Donald and been his #1 fan on this board since November but if he isn't there then fine. Trade back and add good players.
Sutton, Quarles, Easley can all play the 3 tech.

Yeah, who needs a 3-tech on this team anyway?

dudes what you think he can not learn this ITS MOVING OVER LIKE TWO FEET - is he to dumb ?

TD: I have [Timmy] Jernigan one. I think he's a 3-technique. He's explosive. He's powerful. He can stack and shed and go laterally, and get off blocks. I just think he can do everything at a high level where a lot of these guys can do just some things at a high level. He plays the run well but he's at his best when he's playing the pass and finding the football

“I can play a three-technique, and when it’s a pass situation and you want to go to a three-man front, you can put me on the nose guard right on the zero,” he said. “I can get pressure from the middle. I feel like that’s where my game changes from everyone else.”

Could have more NFL upside as a 3-tech

Houston would be a 3-tech in many 4-3 defenses at 6-3, 300.

This is from a ChicagoBears.com article. It sounds like he will go inside on passing downs:

The 6-3, 302-pounder appealed to the Bears in part because his 136 tackles over the past two seasons are the most in the NFL by a defensive end in a 4-3 system. Plus he compiled those stats while playing all four defensive line positions and lining up in a two-point and three-point stance.
"I liked that versatility, liked the fact that he can slide inside and rush," Emery said. "He's rushed at the three-technique and the nose and right [end] and left [end].

"That type of versatility really fits into where we're trying to go with our defense. This is a strong, tough, physical long-armed player who can play multiple positions, which helps you in terms of disguising what you're going to do. You don't have to substitute for him."

Houston is eager to play different spots in coordinator Mel Tucker's defense.

"I believe that coach Tucker is going to put me in the best position to make plays, whether that's inside or out," Houston said. "I think it's going to be a great fit for me, being able to do things that make the defense more versatile rather than having to make too many changes."
