AP is a very limited RB. He basically plays one formation, the I formation and he doesn't catch or block. He's basically a 2 down back.

I think it would be a waste, we have the best O line in football and can still have good success running the ball without having a marquee name. There are much more important areas to address first but...it would be just like Jerrah to do something like that just to cause a minor splash.

I don't see AD taking a backup role. I think Dallas will look later in the draft for a change of pace RB.

God, i hate that phrase. "Change of pace back". It's turned into a "thing" where it simply means a guy who's undersized, will never run between the tackles, can catch okay, and who sucks at pass protection. But he's fast.

I agree, but to describe that kind of a rb as a "change of pace" back is just easier to say and refer to than "a rb who's undersized, will never run between the tackles, can catch okay, and who sucks at pass protection. But he's fast."

People also call them scat backs I think.

That is not much different from Morris, but your point is taken.

Whomever signs Peterson will be under pressure to play him a lot, simply because of his reputation.

He probably needs to go to a team that really is not that well stocked at the position to get what he wants.

Lacy signed in SEA. Lat Murray just signed in MIN. We lost Dunbar to LAR. Even at 32, AP would be a significant upgrade over Morris (who we can cut without much dead money) and would be great insurance in case Zeke gets suspended (knock on wood). APs market is very soft and I think a one year $4-5 mil deal would do it for him to come back to Texas. Thoughts?

Way too much money for an oft hurt player. No more than 2mil for 1 season and see if he can still practice and play. If he can get more...great for him.

No. Don't water down Zeke. You bring in a name like Peterson and he's going to want touches. I don't want out backup RB getting any significant playing time.

Plus he can't play anymore. I'm fine with Morris as the backup. Probably a better player at this point.

Peterson is obviously still looking for someone to pay him based on past reputation and I would expect some RB needy team to sign him, and there are still several.

McFadden is just what this team is looking for at this point in a backup. Versatile enough to play all three downs, happy to have a job in the league, and will keep his mouth shut and take whatever work he gets.

Peterson is a lot like Morris(better though). He will need more than a few carries to get a rhythm. He also adds nothing to the passing game.

Jamaal Charles would fit better because of his versatility.

Agreed. I made this point last year when he was coming back from injury and I was suggesting McFadden would be the superior player to be RB2.

Absolutely not! I also prefer McFadden. We don't need AP; we need a 3rd down threat who can also step in when Zeke needs a breather.
We can get that with McFadden or later in the draft. Just say no!

When the Seahawks, who are desperate for an RB, signs an overweight guy who is constantly injured over you, you may not be in position to demand a starting job in the NFL.

I don't know if Peterson will ever be capable of being an elite back again.

But I know the idea of him being the Giants, Commanders, or Eagles RB doesn't make our road to the playoffs seem any easier.

Yeah I would prefer to sign neither but if I had to choose between older, declining backs...I would take the one that had pass catching ability and has a different style than Elliott.

On paper..AP would be a great backup but he makes no sense as a guy that you count on for a 7-10 carries a game. He needs to get his rhythm.

How about draft someone with low mileage and fresh legs over paying a veteran salary to a guy with high mileage and an injury history.
