So Jason Garrett had to call a timeout because he wasn't aware we got a first down.

It was SPECULATED that Romo did not know it was 4th down against the Broncos. Yet he was torched by media and fans alike.

One is fact.
The other was proved fiction.

I wonder how it will play out.

Calvin Watkins article. I just read about it. I would've thought it was a big deal, but either it's breaking right now or I overestimated the fallout.

I'm guessing no one saw it because I didn't see it. I read it in Watkins article. I read it as he didn't know that the Cowboys got the 1st down and thought they had got 8 or 9 yards off the play. I don't see the big deal. And I don't see how it compares to not knowing if you're on 3rd or 4th down of a game closing out even though I think Romo knew.

I don't need to read Calvin Watkins article(I don't read his dribble) because I heard Wade mentioned it last last night while watching him talk on ESPNNews post game coverage.

Sometimes the officials and chain gang are slow to signal that a 1st down was gained. If they take a long time showing what down it is then it is going to slow down the coaches decisions.

I think it's pretty significant when you burn a first down because of NOT KNOWING anything.

This is a symptom of the disease. The little things all add up and if the coaches take the same stance you did, it excuses the disease.

That's an excuse and a reasonable one. But why don't I see good teams calling a time out over slow officials and chain gangs? Because they don't need excuses because they don't do the stupid things we do game in and game out.

Its not an excuse. I'm just saying I don't see the big deal. If he didn't know there if it was a first down or needed a yard to go he made a mistake. Maybe we should wait and hear his explanation like we should've given Romo? You want to do the same thing to Garrett that we did to Romo and i'm guessing you thought that Romo treatment was unfair? I didn't see it during the game myself so I can't say what happened.

What are you talking about? You're telling me that no team or contender has called a timeout over slow officials? Can you confirm that? IF the explanation or in your words the *excuse* is legit how can you fault Garrett?

That's not what I'm saying, I'm sure it's happened. What I'm saying is you cannot condone an excuse. Here's what I'd like to hear. Yeah, we didn't know and it cost us a time out. That CANNOT HAPPEN and we will make sure it doesn't happen again.

Not - "You mean no team or contender has called a timeout over slow officials?" See, we have no equity built up. We don't have a track record of not making mistakes, we make them all the time. If it was once in awhile you get a pass. Our body of work says no....period.

Any coaching staff worth a bleep would lose their ever-loving minds if they had to waste a timeout because the officials are too slow. Could you imagine losing a game because the clock ran out while you're on the 2 yard line and you had no timeouts left because of that?

Doesn't really matter, they all have these things on their heads called "headsets" which supposedly they can use to talk to other people with these "headsets" on and hopefully those people are actually paying attention.

Doubt this story is true for that reason.

but i doubt it. romo is the high price qb of the cowboys and garrett is the coordinator. not as big of a deal to espn and media just because of name recognition.

now on here i expect people will get on him like they did romo. but theres a lot of people here who still act foolishly like garrett can do no wrong and head coach material, so i doubt it would be as bad as the heat romo took
