Whatever dude

He wasn't going for his eye, I am the biggest cowboys' homer here, but getting in a tizzy over this is just ridiculous.

It'll be his 3rd fine for some late stuff (late to Losman's knees, blow to Witten's head after a play), so it should be getting close to a suspension.

You simply don't stick your finger inside the helmet near the eyes. I hope he gets max whether be fine and/or suspension.

he wasn't trying to poke him in the eye he was pulling a power trip "I am a big man and can put my finger in your face"

that anyone really looks at the replay and says he was actually trying to poke him in the eye is in full on blinders mode, I hate the pats as much as the next guy, and wilfork is a scumbag but he wasn't trying to poke someone in the eye, doesn't matter how you spin it, the intent wasn't there.

Let's see.. There's only enough room to manuever between the bars where the eyes are. So what's the rationale for putting his finger there? He could've slapped him upside the head. Pawed his hands to Jacob's face. Try a chokehold. Nope. He chose to put his finger in an area where only the eyes are accessible and he sure got close to Jacob's left eye. A non-homer would draw the same conclusion as most everyone here....

It's got nothing to do with being a homer. The dude was trying to poke him in the eye.If you can't see that then you need better glasses. For the record I would be just as pissed if a Cowboy player did something that stupid.

Just shows that Wilfork is a cheap shot artist, 2nd time he tried to injure someone.

Not going for the eye? What the heck else is he poking at through the face mask?

I think I heard Brady whining that same thing from the sidelines. I'm guessing Goodell will see fit for a $150 fine.

Of course he won't get suspended. It's not like he tackled a guy from behind or anything like that!

If there is one player in the NFL that needs his leg broken to never play the game again, it is this guy. He is a cheap-shot artist. I hope somebody steps on his face accidentally with those cleat they use when the turf is so wet because of typhoon like rain.

I've often thought that the penalties dished out are far too little. The NFL protects the QB and they should, but other positions are important and to have someone blatently do something after the play, out of bounds, to where it is so flagrant that it turns into a major fine, I'd not object to removal for the rest of the season from that point on. This would stop certain people from commiting these type of blatent fouls. There are some that are just unavoidable, momentum etc, but those that replays could show clear cut flagrant fouls, those players don't need to be on the field anyway period.

If teams and the league started off the season saying this is what is going to happen, that every foul is going to be reviewed, the league could clean up most, but not all, atrocities.

After saying all of this, if this had been followed, New England might be 8-8 instead of 16-0

No, the NFL has been protecting the Patriots all season long. I've already counted 4 personal foul penalties in this game that should have gone against the Patriots that were never called. If you want to beat the Patriots, you gotta beat the refs.

**

You mean like after they went ahead and then hit a Giant out of bounds, the Giants ended up with a personal foul for nothing?

Extremely doubtful. He'll get a good sized fine, though.

Didn't he already get suspended 1 game earlier in the year for the hit on Lostman? Then he got fined for forearming Witten to the back of the head.

He should be suspended the rest of the year.

In highschool one of our rivals were the Martin Tigers. Their players were infamous for poking/scratching at the eyes after a play was over - or sometimes during the play. One of my best friends played for them and he even tried to rake my eyes after he tackled me.

I'm sorry, but that was blatant and way over the line. He should be suspended the rest of the year and part of next year. Messing with a players eyes is serious. If Roy gets 1 game for a freakin' horse collar then Wilfork definitely should get a lot more for intentionally trying to injure a player. This is the 3rd time (really the 4th, and that's only the ones I know of) this year. It's one thing to TACKLE a player and get fined for it - and Roy wasn't trying to hurt anyone - but when you INTENTIONALLY attempt to injure a player you should be suspended at least 4 games. IMO, since Wilfork has a history of doing this crap he should be banned from the NFL. He's a danger to his opponents with that kind of crap.

Wilfork fined $12,500 for hit on Losman
By Adam Schefter | NFL Network

New England Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork was fined $12,500 by the NFL on Thursday for his low, late hit on Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Losman sprained his left knee during the play on Sunday and is expected to miss at least two weeks. Wilfork was penalized on the play in the Patriots' 38-7 win.

Losman responds to fine

Not long after New England defensive tackle Vince Wilfork was fined by the NFL for his late hit that buckled J.P. Losman's left knee on the first play from scrimmage last Sunday, Bills players were questioning the severity of the penalty. Full story ... "A lot of people say that was a cheap shot," Wilfork said Thursday before he was alerted about the fine. "I'm far from a dirty player. If you know me as a person, you'd understand that. If you don't know me, don't judge me. If you don't know me, get to know me."

Losman was hurt on Buffalo's first play from scrimmage when Wilfork dived at his knee just as Losman completed a 4-yard pass to running back Marshawn Lynch. Losman tried to play through the injury, but left the game after losing a fumble two plays later.

Rookie quarterback Trent Edwards replaced Losman and immediately engineered a 12-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, though he completed 10 of 20 passes for 97 yards in the game.

Wilfork said he was blocked into Losman.

"I've got one guy tripping me up and I've got one guy hitting my left leg," Wilfork said. "Of course, that's the only reason I was falling. I'm mad because he's hurt. That's what I regret -- him being a quarterback and getting hurt. It wasn't intentional."

Wilfork said he has tried to reach out to Losman to apologize.

"I've got some friends on that team," Wilfork said. "I'll try to talk to him as a person and let him know how I feel about the whole situation."

This was Wilfork's second run-in with the Bills. During a game in 2004, Bills tackle Jonas Jennings suffered a concussion on what he called a "premeditated" helmet-to-helmet hit by Wilfork. Also in that game, Bills guard Chris Villarrial accused Wilfork of kicking him in the ribs on a field goal attempt.

I didn't know that. Obviously this isn't his first offense and he's a scumbag. A suspension is in order.

It's completely irrational to defend a player after he displayed such an action. He endangered another man's eyesight...not his pride. The facemasks are there for a reason. You just don't do that.

The argument that its ok because he didn't get hurt is just as absurd IMO. Whether or not he intentionally wanted to injure the man's eye is moot. He intentionally endangered a man's eyesight through his actions, and should be punished accordingly.

He should be suspended for a MINIMUM of 1 game IMO, and it's not because I'm a homer, or because I hate the Pats...it's because he's a dirty player, and this is his third offense. Goodell needs to show some consistency here.

Third offense this year as I have learned....he's done stuff before this year too. You're right, other players have been suspended this year and evidently Wiljerk doesn't learn. He needs to be punished through something more significant than a fine, about which he wouldn't care anyway...
