Is it anything like the winner of the NIT basketball tournament that gets to say "We're #65!!!"
My guess is if you're sending someone to NFLe to address some questions, you probably already know the answers.
fortdick said:I was just thinking that if Jay Cutler falls to #18 we should know a great deal about Parcell's plans based on what he does. If he passes on Cutler then we know that he is going to wait another year for a QB and go with the three we have now. If he takes Cutler, or another QB on the first day, we know that someone has to go, and that would prolly be Henson But what if Henson shows greatness in NFLE?
I don't believe he will have time to prove anything by draft day, and therefor, won't impact the decision(s). So all Henson can really do is play to be traded. Is there time for him to show anything before Bill and Jerruh have to make a decision come draft day?
I would be shocked if Cutler were still there at 18. Shocked!wayne_motley said:I'd love to draft Cutler, but I don't see it happening...no way.
I'd like to take a flier on Charlie Whitehurst in round 2-3, but that won't happen either.

Basic QB functions. Handle some sort of pressure. Just basically get acclimated to playing a real time game(I use "real time game" loosely of course) LOL

Drafting a qb in the first round isn't shooting for the super bowl next season.
Campbell had nothing to do with why they made the playoffs. They had a great defense to thank for that.kartr said:Why do you say that, Washington drafted a qb in the first round and still made the playoffs. We could draft Jacobs in the second, release Romo and still have plenty of draft picks for our other needs.

Echoes of a Skins fan.kartr said:Of course he didn't, but having a solid vet starter to mentor him for a year or two was a great idea, not to mention the fact that when he's ready in a year or two, both Moss and Portis and Cooley will be great weapons. My point was, that you can draft a talented young qb and win with the veteran at the same time. Plus, Washington isn't taking the cut-rate method of finding a qb of the future, they've drafted a 13-0 qb from a big school who was a four year starter and played in 4 systems in four years. That means he has to be a quick study to be able to handle constant change.

I did NOT say it makes you a Skins fan. Do you know what echoes are? It means you sound just like one. You're using the same logic they would.kartr said:I don't get the Skins fan reference. I thought they made a good choice in Campbell over Rodgers. He was a senior and in my opinion based upon the fact that he had played in different systems, was more mature and NFL ready. Al Borges, his last coordinator at Auburn said he picked up the West Coast Offense quicker than any qb he had ever had before. I respect Joe Gibbs because he is a winner and a class individual and no one is questioning whether his former assistants are the real genius behind his success. I thought that making the trade for Clintson Portis, an up and coming rb was a great move and it has paid off and I thought that Moss was better than Laverneus Coles as I watched him ascend from a 30th per centile WR to a top five one while playing with Quincy for three weeks and then watched his numbers go down again once Pennington returned. I just think that Gibbs has made excellent decisions the whole time he's been there, 2 years and is improving rapidly, especially with the signing of Al Saunders as offensive coordinator. How does admiring an adversary's skills make me a Commanders fan?
